Will Marineland All-in-one kill my penguin biofilter?

Asked by: jlh0120
Completed the five in one with 20% water change every day because of rising ammonium. Did 33% change sixth day and added live nitrifying bacteria. Four days later bio-filter seems to be recovering.

Betta fish has clamped fins and fungus. Tank is uncycled. Protecting him with prime/stability from tox.Can you do water changes while medicating? Like between first and second dose for examp? And if so, how much? Afraid prime and medicine depletes oxygen.

Asked by: Coderedjulia
The issues he is experiencing may be due to ammonia levels. Are they high? If so, he may not need meds, just water changes and Aquarium Bacteria. If he does need meds, definitely do a daily partial water change prior to each dose of the medication. BREX

I just did a full water change for my betta who has what I believe to be ick , is it still ok to put this in AND do I need to do a partial water change each day I add a new tablet or just keep adding them?

Asked by: Anna1234
No, since you did a complete change, you cannot use it. Instead, we recommend increasing the tank temperature to around 85 degrees, and adding 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water. You should also add our Aquarium Bacteria to re-establish the tank and avoid ammonia and nitrite issues. http://www.marineland.com/Products/Food-and-Water-Care/Aquarium-Bacteria.aspx BREX

I have a new set up aquarium but I bought a fish that has a parasite or something that this product covers will it hurt my bio load and will it hurt the quality of my water or affect any change in the water parameters

Asked by: Bartman
Hi Bartman. This will affect your bio load so you may want to consider adding some Marineland bacteria after treatment. You could also remove the fish to a hospital tank for treatment.

I've now been treating my betta for a week and see very little improvement with his ich infection. What should I do?

Asked by: Ashley451
He may not have ich, he may have velvet. If you have seen very little improvement, definitely try a different medication. Velvet looks a lot like ich and only responds to copper. BREX

Does all in one help to cure air bladder???

Asked by: Bebelindz
No, for that you would need Fungus Guard by our other brand, Tetra, and a bit of luck. It is pretty impossible to cure, but you can usually improve it. Change the fish's diet as well, and keep the tank in great shape. BREX

I have a sgt major damselfish that got popeye, I have removed it from the main tank and have it in a 5 gallon "hospital" tank. I've been treating it daily for 12 days now and it's eye seems worse now. Does this product work for popeye or did I waste $20?

Asked by: Chris_H
This particular product is not as effective in salt water, and is recommended for fresh water. I would recommend a bacterial treatment for marine tanks. BREX

How safe is the water treated with this product around other pets (cats, dogs). Although they don't typically go near the aquarium, I'm very careful about what drugs and medications I bring into the home.

Asked by: Ash123
When diluted, it is perfectly fine. Please keep the medication out of their reach though, in the solid form. BREX

Is this dangerous to the cycling of the tank if I treat the entire tank (will it kill off necessary bacteria)? I do not have a quarantine tank.

Asked by: o9wieryunp9wafhap
Yes, it can harm some bacteria. If you do a partial water change prior to each dose, then seed the tank with Aquarium Bacteria after treatment, however, you should be fine. BREX

That affect will this medication have on my bio filter?

Asked by: mclemente0621
Very minimal, if your bio filter is healthy. If it is in poor conditioner, it may cause the loss of some of your bio filter. BREX

Before of Trying this product I try Fungus Cure(API) but I doesn't show signs of getting better after three day. Hope the all in one remedy help. Any suggestion? Should I combine them? Cottony body lesion.

Asked by: Carlos22
Never combine medications as you can have a bad result on the fish tank! Do a partial water change, and run fresh carbon for several hours then start with the next medication. Make sure you remove the carbon when using this product, and dose once a day for 5 days. Carbon should stay out, but filter operating like normal otherwise, the entire time. BREX

I treated my Betta for the full five days and noticed a lot of improvement! However, after a week of treating him, I still think he's fighting an infection in his gills as there's fuzzy stuff there. Can I give him another five day treatment?

Asked by: Lucky
Hi Lucky, Yes, do a partial water change, and run fresh carbon for a few hours, then remove it, and start a second treatment 24 hours after you finished your last round. BREX

I noticed my goldfish have fish lice. Will this product get rid of the lice? Will it hurt my red ear slider? He is a little bigger than a quarter.

Asked by: Pearceheather80
No, this will not kill off fish lice, it is not quite that strong. And no, it cannot be used with turtles. Turtles and fish should not be housed together for various reasons, unless in large outdoor ponds. We do not make a medication for fish lice at this time. You will need to separate your turtle out to his own tank, preferably a 20 gallon long, minimum, and treat the goldfish with something like Parasite Guard by Tetra, our other brand. BREX

Why would you not let the tablet bounce around and dissolve (NO Charcoal) in the filter body at a rate between drop the tablet in the aquarium (very hard water) slow dissolve vs crush and dissolve in a cup of aquarium water "instant" dissolve. Good comp?

Asked by: Doug H
Only issue with putting it right into the filter would be it will be very concentrated and could harm some of the bacteria housing in it. BREX

During 5 day treat. choosing to do a DAILY 10-20% water change with water that has just been treated with standard anti-chlorine water conditioner, would this not partially neutralize the All-In-One product added? (Water Cond. Is the neut. agent.)

Asked by: Doug H
Our water conditioner works within 2-3 minutes. If you give the tank time to settle and for the water conditioner to dissipate, no, it won't. BREX

We have two cute little comet goldfish with what I think is fin rot. They are new and so is their 3 gallon tank as of Friday (5 days ago) I have not done a water change yet. Should I do one before starting this medication or will it be okay for 5 more day

Asked by: L78mac
Definitely do a water change of 30% as the tank is a little small for goldfish. They require 3 gallons of water per inch as a minimum amount of water. So two small goldfish about an inch in length should be housed in at least 6 gallons, preferably 10 gallons to allow for growing. Comets grow to more than 12" in length and eventually require 50 gallons each. And no, they do not grow to the size of the tank; they grow according to genetics and how well they are cared for, basically. After all this, I would recommend the water change to make sure water quality is in good shape prior to medicating. Test for ammonia and nitrite as well to make sure they are are low or preferably zero levels, as adding medication when levels are high could be bad for the fish. Keep plenty of water movement as well. BREX

Will this product help heal popeye on a betta?

Asked by: Robin02
It could, yes, but popeye is generally due to either a low pH, overall poor water quality, and/or a bacterial infection. The first thing to do is a good vacuuming and a partial water change. If the fish is not fine after this then treat with either LifeGuard or FungusGuard. BREX
