Quick prime button is getting stuck when we press on it to start up water rotation flow. Water not cyphering through tubes to tank. Any suggestions to the issue?

Asked by: Steve O
Remove the valve block from the top of the filter, disconnect the tubing, and clean the valve block out. Using something like a q tip, clean out the four valves. There are two on top and two underneath. Soak it in a distilled vinegar solution for about 10 minutes. Clean out the tubing as well. BREX

How long does the water polisher take to polish a 55 gallon tank

Asked by: Lexington
That will totally depend on how dirty the tank is and why it is dirty. It can take a few minutes to a few days. In a properly stocked and maintained tank, not long. BREX

I purchased the C360 canister less than a year ago. Last week my power went out for several hours and when I returned home, the filter had dumped about 50 gallons of water on to my hard wood floors causing major damage. What caused this and how to fix it?

Asked by: Chris25
Wow! So sorry to hear this happened! Generally, that means your filter media was probably clogged, and pressure eventually built to a point, the filter began leaking. We'll contact you directly to offer some assistance. BREX

Could you post video of cleaning the magniflow? I got water everywhere and not sure what I did wrong, it was my first time cleaning and replacing filters.

Asked by: Parowsey
Here is a link to a video we have on www.youtube.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMb7igmjYJA&index=4&list=PL5-PN8Fmc96EpQtAk39Cg4V7BlvN1p9M-. I suspect what you did wrong was to not lock the valve block prior to removing it. Unplug the filter, lift the lever on the valve block and then the "key" under the lever. This just looks like a smaller lever. Turn it 180 degrees, locking it in place, and wait about 10 seconds. This prevents water leaking or flowing out. BREX

I am setting up a new tank 60 gallons. I bought the marineland that goes in the tank, but I wonder if I should get the one that goes outside the tank. Could you tell me the difference. Thank you for your time:)

Asked by: april333
I believe you are comparing the Magnum Polishing Internal Filter with the Magniflow Canister Filter. There are huge differences. The obvious one is that the Magnum P.I. is an internal filter operated by a powerhead. It has a smaller area for media, of course, as it is much smaller overall. It utilizes a filter sleeve for mechanical filtration and has a media container that allows for carbon. Flow rate is suitable for up to a 90 gallon tank. The Magniflow line has several different sized canisters with several trays for a wide variety of media. Even the 160 model has two foam pads, carbon packs, a polishing cloth and bio balls. Lots of space and surface area for bacteria. Maintenance will be less frequent. BREX

I was wondering what is the best filter for a 10 gallon Betta tank? I don't want rolling water, but I still need great filtration. Why don't they still have it where you can adjust the flow on the filter? Most filters are just too powerful!

Asked by: MSAHMAD72
Sorry, I hit submit too soon! Alternatively, the Penguin 75 works well in betta tanks as well. It moves water across the top, whereas the Whisper PF10 will push it more downward. BREX

Would I need to prime filter after cleaning

Asked by: Ocellaris
While it can be started without priming in most cases, it depends on how clean the vinyl tubing, and valve block are as well as whether the tubing retained the water in it. If you took the tubing off to clean it for example, you will definitely need to re-prime. Also, with longer tubing that drops below the motorhead (which we do not recommend) you will need to re-prime it. Always fill it with water after cleaning. BREX

OK i have a 10 year old red eared slider that has in a 30 octagon all her life I have a 160 the water is cloudy and smells what order should i have the filter material bottom to top please help

Asked by: mikes993
Well, first, that tank is too small for an adult turtle. She really needs a 75 to 100 gallon aquarium if she is an adult of 7 inches or more. So she is producing a tremendous amount of waste. She definitely needs a 50% water change once a week, and I would recommend no gravel, only a few large rocks she can climb on, and sleep under, or a large piece of driftwood. As to media, foam goes on the bottom, then the carbon, then the bio balls. The carbon will help remove odor, but you may need more foam to help with overall filtration. This filter is rated for up to a 30 gallon fish tank. For a turtle tank, we would have suggested the 220 considering her species and size. Adult females reach 12" in diameter. I use the 360 in a 90 gallon tank with a 7" cooter. Do a large water change, and make sure she is eating all of the food you give. Water should be around 3/4 of the way up in the tank to give her the most room for swimming. BREX

Will i need to purchase any of the 3 stage filtration inside the canisters or will it come with everything ready to go.

Asked by: Joe T
It will come with absolutely everything you need to start it up. You will need to replace the carbon once a month, and the polishing cloth will depend on the amount of cleaning it needs to do for your tank, but generally, rinsing it monthly will keep it in good shape for 3-4 months. BREX

I cannot get my C220 to start up after cleaning. have had for abt 5 years. after cleaning when I first plugged in rattled a bunch, but no water flow. Took apart again, cleaned impellar now not making ANY sounds, or even vibrating. Could it be dead?

Asked by: kyear
I would take the impeller out, plug the motorhead in, and then hold the impeller up to it. If it does not magnetically pull it in, or vibrate when you do this, then yes, the motorhead is dead. If it does, then take a q tip and some vinegar, and thoroughly clean out the motorhead where the impeller goes. Also, make sure the valve block and vinyl tubing are not blocked. BREX

I just purchased and set up the 360 for my 60 gallon tank. The filter is making the sounds like it's working but no water is passing through either tube. I've taken unit apart, put it back together, checked tubing...Nothing seems to work.

Asked by: Kathleen
Hi Kathleen, Make sure the water in the tank is at the top of the tank. Also, your tubing should not drape any lower than the valve block on the canister. You want a 2" slack in it. If you have excess tubing, it will be very difficult to prime the filter. Please call us at 1-800-322-1266 if you continue to have trouble. BREX

I currently have an emperor 400, but would like to change to a c360. The c360 is rated at 360 gal/ hr the emperor 400 is rated at 400 gal/ hr. What would be the benefit of changing.

Asked by: Pagan
Depends on which you prefer. HOB filters have less risk of leaking and are easier to maintain. Canisters have a lot more media, are hidden, and have a lot of flexibility to them. However, the 400 can hold a lot of media too. The way the water flows out or dispels is also different. So the benefit is up to your preference. In most cases, canisters require maintenance less often, and really have a strong flow so they create more current. BREX

No, you shouldn't need more air, unless you are heavily stocked or do not do water changes often enough. BREX

What's the difference in the magniflow 360 and the old c360? This would be my first canister filter and I'm terrified of leaks. Is it a pretty rare thing to happen?

Asked by: John360
The motorhead has been re-designed, and has a new impeller. Also, the valve block and the o ring on the motorhead are designed differently. The media and filter body are basically the same. Leaks are a known risk in the hobby, in general. They can occur from any type of filter (H.O.B. filters can spring a leak near the motor sometimes) or an aquarium itself. Considering the amount of product sold yearly, and the number of hobbyists in this wonderful hobby, yes, they are pretty rare, but when they occur, they are generally a pretty frustrating and upsetting event so hobbyists are vocal about them. Some canister owners tend to place the canister in a tub of some sort in the stand under the tank, but if canisters are properly maintained, and o rings replaced on a schedule, there should be no cause for concern. We recently purchased a Magniflow 220. However, I cannot seem to find part numbers for the filter replacements, such as filter floss pad (part 6), ceramic rings and bio-filter balls (7 and 8), the carbon bags and filter foam (9 and 10).

Asked by: j2smith79935
Here is a link: http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-filtration-filter-media/Filter-Media/c-series-canister-replacement-filter-media-aquarium-filter-foam.aspx. All of the C Series media fits the Magniflow, we use it for both filter systems. If you click on the drop down menu, and the item that interests you in it, the item number is to the right of the box. Item numbers are also in the filter manual. BREX

I have a marineland 530 it is blowing bubbles is there anyway to stop this?

Asked by: msg4869
This is typically due to an older o ring on the motorhead, the tubing not pushed far enough down onto the valve block to cover the threads, or old o rings in the valve block. It can also be due to the clamp not being tight enough on the intake tube. We would recommend checking these things out. BREX

It depends on where the leak is occurring from, but most likely you need a new o ring for the motorhead, and/or a new valve block. Please call us directly for further assistance at 1-800-322-1266. BREX

I have the Magniflow C-360 and I have no idea how to disassemble the impellor to clean it. When I remove the impellor cover thingy, what do I do from there?

Asked by: Archcat
Archcat, Once you remove the impeller cover buy twisting it open, then you can grab ahold of the impeller itself and pull it out. Now, there is going to be some resistance since a magnet is attached to the bottom half. Then once out, you can clean the impeller and the housing where it sits very well. Christina

Diane, Thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry to hear this. However, please make sure that you have the canister completely filled with water. Once filled and re-assembled, plug the filter into an outlet, and then push your primer button. See if that helps the pull/push of the water to and from your tank. Thank you, Christina

Hi, Mr Brex. Im kindly looking for a full setup but in my country no any Expert to expali me what should i do. So kindly please help me out. My tank building on process  The dimension is Lenght :-186 cm Width   :-2 feet Height. :-3.5 feet

Asked by: Inzam
It's actually Ms. BREX, :-). How you set it up depends on what you wish to keep in the tank. Rinse the tank, and rinse your substrate. Place your substrate (gravel or sand) in the bottom of the tank, and then put in any rocks, corals, driftwood, etc., depending on the type of animals you intend to keep, and fill it halfway. Start installing the filtration, heater, thermometer, air pump, and lighting. For such a large tank you will want a very good filter. Finish filling the tank up, and plug in all of the equipment. Let the tank run for a few days to make sure the equipment is working correctly, and the temperature reaches the optimum level, then add SafeStart Plus or FilterActive and your first few fish. BREX
