Could I use this canister filter as a salt water reactor? Is it possible to run for example, carbon, GFO, and mechanical filtration?

Asked by: dacyums
You can customize your media anyway you like, as long as you do not over fill it and cause the trays to not connect correctly. BREX

Hello.  I have a magniflow 220 filter. I noticed the o-rings come pre lubed.  Do I have to apply lube eveytime I take apart the filter for cleaning?   How often do I need to apply lube?  What type of lube do I need?   Thanks.

Asked by: Darthyeoj
Yes, we recommend applying a thin smear of food grade silicone lubricant after each maintenance. BREX

Good day, I am new on this hobby, I will like to know, this flirter goes under the aquarium, doe the filter have 2 pumps? one to suck the water and one to send the water back to the aquarium? is that correct? please explain

Asked by: RonaldC
No, it has one pump, sits under the tank, and has an inlet tube and an outlet tube. The water is pulled into the filter, forced through the media and sent back to the tank with the one motor. BREX

This is my first canister filter and I'm really confused. These directions are garbage and there's not one useful video on YouTube. Is there an official link of how to set it up , not just bad pictures?

Asked by: Amjack
We currently do not have a video on the Magniflow filter, but are in the process of creating a lot of new videos for the re-design of our site. Here is one that I found that seems pretty useful. Did you not get the quick set up guide? Those are pretty clear on how to install the canister. We'd be happy to talk you through it as well so please call us at 1-800-322-1266. And if you did not get the QSUG, let us know, and we'll email it to you. BREX

I have the Magniflow 220 canister filter, and I love it. What pre-filter on the intake do you suggest I can use?

Asked by: Scootk
Glad to hear your love your Magniflow filter Scootk! You could perhaps attach a round foam sponge. We are unable to recommend competitor's products though, and we don't recommend pre-filters since they will restrict the filter and diminish its filtering capabilities. BREX

Purchased new through Amazon. Installed yesterday- water pumped out of tank into filter but did not recycle back into tank- instead unit leaked and flooded the room-am pretty sure I've done something wrong to install- can you help?

Asked by: rob l
I'm sorry to hear that happened, rob! Most likely the primary o-ring was not installed. It is a large, grey, rubber o-ring that wraps the entire motor head to seal the water within the canister.

I've been using my model 220 canister filter for about 5 years now. It's awesome but every once in a while, it gets a little noisy like there's something in the impeller. Or perhaps something is worn. Any ideas?

Asked by: DONWG1950
Thanks for asking! The only thing that should be able to make noise is the impeller. It sounds like you may need to clean it more regularly or replace it. For more help, please give us a call at 1-800-526-0650.

It has a hard time priming, and pumping any suggestions?

Asked by: Reedre1972
Use some food grade silicon spray to lubricate the primer (hint: SCUBA). This helped me when it was having a hard time priming and eventually got stuck in the down position.

I have a question regarding the output of the Magniflow 220 and 360. Do you have any information about the flow rate in GPH with 4-5 feet of head pressure? Thanks.

Asked by: Darthyeoj
The flow rate of 220 gph or 360 gph is taken at a head of 4.5 feet. It will slow down as the filter becomes clogged. BREX

I am looking for noe for a 210 gallon tank.  Can you provide a way to see it and the price?

Asked by: Lance Robinson
We do not make a canister filter that is large enough, on its own, for a 210 gallon tank. You would need two, one for each end of the tank, and we would recommend the Magniflow 360. Also, we do not sell direct, so pricing would be determined at the store level. BREX

Hello, I have a C-220 that is about 5 years old now. Still works great and never changed any parts on it. All works great. I noticed the impeller is starting to rattle even with no air in system. How do I make it quiet again?

Asked by: WizChip
It may be wearing out. Try soaking it in white vinegar and swabbing out the hole it sits in with a q tip and vinegar as well. If this does not work, then replace it. BREX

PLEASE HELP! I purchased a Marineland 160c canister filter and set it up. After pressing the priming button, water would go through the intake tube and then leak all over the floor instead of going through the output tube. I all followed the instructions!

Hi Stacey, It sounds like you do not have the large o ring installed on the motorhead. It would have come in a clear bag with an instruction card attached. Please call us at 1-800-322-1266 if you need some more help. BREX

360 Filter is ratteling after setup. Impeller cover is secure. Why else might this be?

Asked by: GBateman
It is normal for them to rattle as air purges past the ceramic rings. This will dissipate within a couple of days in most cases. Make sure you do not have an air stone near the intake tube though or this will also cause it. BREX

Can your polishing filters be used successfully to reduce scale in a 30 gallon home fountain?

Asked by: Moki
No, they remove tiny particulates in water, they cannot remove scale from the sides of anything. We recommend distilled white vinegar for that, depending on the material the fountain is made out of. BREX

Is there such a thing as too much filtration on a tank? We have a 125 gallon tank and were told to get to 70 gallon canisters rather than the filters for 250 gallons because the sales person said that would over filter the tank.

Asked by: Stenochris
Hi Stenochris, Theoretically, it is possible, but it is not very likely that you could over-filter your tank. The only real question is whether the flow rate of the larger filter would be too much for the inhabitants of the tank or not. Typically, it is fine to go up to double the amount recommended for the size tank, so in your case, enough filtration for up to a 250 gallon tank should be fine. BREX

Quick prime button is getting stuck when we press on it to start up water rotation flow. Water not cyphering through tubes to tank. Any suggestions to the issue?

Asked by: Steve O
Remove the valve block from the top of the filter, disconnect the tubing, and clean the valve block out. Using something like a q tip, clean out the four valves. There are two on top and two underneath. Soak it in a distilled vinegar solution for about 10 minutes. Clean out the tubing as well. BREX

How long does the water polisher take to polish a 55 gallon tank

Asked by: Lexington
That will totally depend on how dirty the tank is and why it is dirty. It can take a few minutes to a few days. In a properly stocked and maintained tank, not long. BREX
