Rated 2 out of 5 by from Magnum Polishing Filter much needed parts I brought this filter and i liked it so much i brought another. I have a 120 gallon fresh water tank. Any way I would give this review 5 stars if i could only find out how to order parts. i also think that extra parts should have been provided seeing how quickly they become too worn during regular use. I loved it as long as it worked so know i wouldnt buy this product again if its not going to last over one year.

Wat is the size of the micron filter cartridge? with and without being charged with diatomaceous earth, what is the smallest particle size that can be effectively filtered out? I want to polish my reef tank, but not filter out copepods

Asked by: Big C Jay
The smallest micron the filter will typically take out without DE is around 10 microns. We do not have any data regarding the smallest micron removed when DE is present. BREX

I am using this with the micron filter and set it up with Diatomaceous earth and it ran fine for a few days and since it seems to be blowing some of the powder out into the tank.

Asked by: muggle00
You aren't supposed to run it in this mode for a few days. It is no doubt clogged, and having issues keeping everything in it. Take it apart and clean it. If the tank isn't completely clear, then set it up again, but usually DE and a micron cartridge will clear a tank within a day at most, and should then be cleaned out. BREX

I have a 60 gallon tank and I want to know if I only use this, would it put enough oxygen in the aquarium or would I need to add a powerhead or air stone

Asked by: Market D
That depends on the type of inhabitants, the quantity of inhabitants and your maintenance routine. As it uses the Maxi Jet 1200 powerhead as its motor, it really moves some water so you may not need any other form of oxygen. BREX

Is this filter to big for my 30 gallon tank? Seems like a strong output for the tank.

Asked by: Tonio21
Thanks for asking, Tonio21. Yes, this filter is a little too powerful for a 30 gallon tank. It is rated for up to 97 gallon tanks. We hope you find this helpful! For more help call Marineland at (800) 322-1266.

How many gph should a salt water do?

Asked by: Eibar
If you are using a sump type of filter you want at least 700 gph. It is going to vary, depending on the size of the tank, type of inhabitants, etc. BREX
