Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loud after 1.5 weeks I have this filter for approximately 6 months. After approx. 1.5 weeks, the filter becomes very loud. I have cleaned the propeller assembly and motor to no avail. Not sure I would recommend this

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flow issues I bought the filter 6 months ago, and it worked great at first. Now it doesn't expel water at all. Tried to fix it, cleaned everything, still no flow. Very disappointed

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Magnum Polishing Filter much needed parts I brought this filter and i liked it so much i brought another. I have a 120 gallon fresh water tank. Any way I would give this review 5 stars if i could only find out how to order parts. i also think that extra parts should have been provided seeing how quickly they become too worn during regular use. I loved it as long as it worked so know i wouldnt buy this product again if its not going to last over one year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did little to nothing. Trying to rid my tank of a peskey algea bloom. This filter did next to nothing... Complete waste of money the tank was barely a little bit clearer... Followed all instructions properly and its really just not a good filter... Definitely going to return it to the store...

What’s the difference between the water polishin filter and the two stage carbon filter?  They both come in the box, but what are the differences?

Asked by: Shant Z
The polishing filter is to be used alone, and it polishes the water by removing tiny particles that other types of media miss because they float right through those media. Carbon is a chemical media and it removes odors and discolorations from the water such as medication. The filter sleeve is your day to day filter pad and it removed the majority of debris, but the tiny particles float through it. Use the micron cartridge temporarily when you want crystal clear water or to remove tannins, algae, etc, from the water. BREX

On the extension tube, what is the plug for? More specifically what is the plug hole for?  Thanks!

Asked by: tjd3
Are you supposed to take the plug out and attach something to it?

When I tried using diatom powder, I had the filter in bucket of dechorlinated water, and added 6 tablespoons of powder. It did not seem as if the filter was taking in the powder as the water remained very cloudy{in the bucket}.

Asked by: David 22554
In order to use DE powder you need to have the micron cartridge in the canister and completely submerge the canister until it pulls all of the DE into it. BREX

Want to build a waterfall type filtration similar to the vivarium but more powerful. Can i use your filter and have the outflow as waterfall. I have a 40 breeder and two smaller semi-aquatic turtles. Can it be partially submerged for this?

Asked by: JacyPo72
You would need to have the tank full to about the base of the powerhead portion of the filter system for it to work. It would be better to buy just the Maxi Jet 1200 powerhead, and some vinyl tubing. Submerge the powerhead in the bottom of the tank, with tubing coming up and over the falls. You could perhaps have a manifold so that several short pieces of tubing come off the main one, and insert in between rocks, creating the waterfall. BREX

Hello Just set up 2 of these filters why on only one do i have airbubbles coming out of the outletb is still pumping well..Thanks

Asked by: davielock
That should have to do with the way you have them set up, as well as the depth they are installed at in the tank. Also, make sure the tubing and venturi knob are not clogged, and the knob is fully opened. BREX

I currently use a fan internal on a 60 gallon tank along with a Eco-bio stone which works really well, but would like further cleaning of bottom was and cycle. Would this work and what is the best media? Ceramic? Charcoal?

Asked by: Tigger555
This will certainly do a great job filtering, but it doesn't clean the bottom, gravel vacuuming does that. It uses either a micron cartridge or a filter sleeve with carbon in a media container. BREX
