Black Diamond® Premium Activated Carbon eliminates discoloration, odors, and impurities...and keeps on doing it long after other carbons quit.

Heat-activated bituminous coal-based Black Diamond granules are specially sized and far more efficient than inferior coconut, wood or peat-based carbons. Premium Black Diamond works as much as twice as fast as the competition.

1/2 of carbon falls through holes on Emperor 400 media container

I am confused. The Media containers on my emperor 400 look as though you are supposed to pour the carbon directly into them. There are divider baffles in the cartridge seemingly to keep the carbon from clumping on the bottom. However, after filling one cartridge with Black Diamond media to just below the baffles on the bottom half and rinsing, half of the carbon just washed out the holes. So I checked the owners manual and I apparently did everything right. Am I missing something?

You do pour it directly into the media container. You should lay it flat and fill it from end to end, to just below the top edges of the container, close it, then lightly rinse it for about 5 seconds to remove dust. If you rinse too long, you will cause the carbon to break down. BREX

Hi, What is the amount of activated carbon needed for 100 G saltwater aquarium. I use reactor for Carbon.

Asked by: Reza
Hello Reza, Unfortunately, that amount varies. I have seen recommendations of 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons of water to 1/2 cup per 50 gallons of water. There does seem to be an agreement that it should be changed monthly, and added slowly so maybe start with 1 tablespoon per 20 gallons of water for a few weeks, then slowly increase it with each filter change to 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons. I have 2 questions 1.has this activated charcoal been acid washed? 2. Can it be burned or will it give off a carbon dioxide?

Ok dont think i am a nut...I need a Quality coconut or coal based carbon to use in my kiln when I sinter metal. Since I have a lot of this leftover from when I use to keep fish . I was wondering if I can use this product. Why let it go to waste....
Asked by: zbella
Our coal based activated charcoal is not acid washed. If the kiln is of sufficently high temperature, the actived carbon would burn and naturally emit CO2. As well as the fact that you are using “spent” carbon, anything that had been adsorbed on to the surface of the carbon will be burn off as well. Please be advised that any use of our products for purposes other than intended is without any guarantee or assertion on the part of UPG in regards to the safety and performance of that product. BREX

Asked by: EMANORMA
Yes, the carbon needs to be in mesh bags, you can use a woman's nylon stocking and just cut off any excess after tying it. The amount is 300 grams total or 100 grams per one of our bags. BREX
