Does this diamond blend work for saltwater aquariums?

Asked by: Bobhanna
It can be used in saltwater, but the zeolite will have no effect on your tank at all. We really recommend it for freshwater, basically. BREX

How do you use this product? Does it go directly into aquarium water or into the cannister along with carbon bags?

Asked by: Thedasher
You have to add it to carbon bags, mesh bags, something like this, and place it in your filter system. BREX

does it come with applicator or bag to hold?

Asked by: jimmyp
No, you would need to have those on hand. It is just the carbon itself. BREX

Will this reduce nitrate levels in my tank? Everything else tested fine. I'm just curious if it "balances" any other characteristics of water quality.

Asked by: JKelley3440
No, it removes heavy metals, odors, discolorations, medications, etc. To remove nitrates, you vacuum the gravel and do partial water changes a couple of times a month minimum. Live plants can also help remove nitrates. My planted tank gets two small water changes a week, and between those and the natural plants, my nitrates are < 5 ppm. BREX

I have a 10gal with 5 fish. I bought this, I have put 55g in a mesh bag and put it in my filter, replacing the charcoal bag. I also have biomax bag.Since I did that, I have a huge growth of algae and the water is a little bit blurry. What did I do wrong?

Asked by: Raiden38
Well, nothing from what you have stated here appears to be anything done wrong. Algae is due to nutrients. Did you clean out the filter box? If not, you may have washed a lot of garbage back into the tank when you started it up again. Another possibility would be disruption of the biological filter if you replaced old, established media. Regardless, vacuum your gravel and do a 25% water change, remove as much algae as you can. After you refill the tank, and add your water conditioner, add Aquarium Bacteria to help boost your biological filter. BREX

Can i use this instead of just carbon even when the ammonia goes down or do i have to take it out and swich back to carbon

Asked by: Castro
Yes, you can continue to use this, even after the ammonia levels have gone down, but at the next filter media change, you may get more benefit from using carbon alone. It depends on the types, quantities and sizes of fish you are housing. BREX
