Fits all Emperor BIO-Wheel filtration systems.

At Marineland, we design our filter cartridges to meet the absolute highest standards of water purification, performance, and operational ease. Each pre-assembled cartridge slides easily into place, providing superior mechanical and chemical filtration, and making replacement fast, dry and effortless. The cartridge mechanically filters water through a pad of double thick poly-fiber.  Debris and waste particles are trapped, and water is chemically filtered through Marineland's Black Diamond® Premium Activated Carbon.

Inside the cartridge, a patented ribbed backing ensures even distribution of activated carbon to deliver maximum water-to-carbon contact.  The result?  Crystal clear, crystal clean water.

what goes in the media containers in my 400 emperor filter

Asked by: greenbird
That allows you flexibility to customize the filter for your own tank's needs. So you could use additional carbon, ammo chips, bio beads, filter floss, etc. Whatever you think your tank needs to help filter the water. BREX

I purchased a 3g Nook Acquarium Kit for my Granddaughter but I can not find the Rite Size P filter cartridges.

I have returned to Pet Smart in Greenbelt, MD twice to resolve this issue. I was sold bio bags that were not the correct size ($12 dollars spent). My 2nd visit resulted in an admission that there are no Rite Size P filters available. I explained to the sales associate that the store manager ensured me at point of sale that the 3g Nook is the most recent version and all parts and accessories were available on line if not in the store. I have invested close to $100 plus the cost of the Kit. Please tell me how to find Rite Size P cartridges?
Asked by: MCMATH
Rite Size P cartridges are available and are a Petsmart exclusive. The Medium Size Whisper Bio Bag Cartridges will also fit as the filter system was designed to fit either type of cartridge. BREX

Emperor 400 filter is leaking!

I have a 55 gallon tank - Just purchased a 400 filter - followed directions - runs great except for the excessive water coming from the left hand side of the filter (as you're looking at the filter) - checked the impellor, spray rods, intake tubing, filters, everything is where it needs to be, but when I turn it on, it still leaks. I have also found that the extension tube that goes into the tank is too long for a 55 gallon - is there a shorter version available? I like to have the tube just below 1/.2 way in the tank, this one is so long, its in the gravel and the only way to use it is to take the tubing and the strainer off. Defeats the whole purpose of the strainer. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You need to cut the length of the pick up tube as shown in the directions. The filter is sold to fit many tank sizes. Use a hacksaw or good steak knife (when the wife is not around). BY cutting the tube you will also allow the opposite end to fit down and into the impeller housing and you water leak at the left side will end also. Put the strainer on or enjoy the fish soup latter on. The fish will get pulled into the impeller without it. Good luck and enjoy the hobby

What filters do I need to use the Emperor 400 in my 72 gallon saltwater aquarium?

I bought a new Emperor 400 and had used it for a freshwater setup for about 3 months, now converting to saltwater. Thank you in advance, Brad
Asked by: BradnDawn
Due to the width of your tank I would add the Emperor 240 with the 400. Only because you need two pick-ups to properly filter a tank of that size. Secondly water movement is very important also, so again having two separate filters at or close to the opposite ends will help to keep the tank clean, circulate water and especially move the heated water around the tank . You should also be using more than one heater. If you can afford it go for a second Emperor 400 filter if not the Emperor 240 will due. Good luck. and enjoy the hobby

I have a 160 gal. aquarium, what size filter do i need on it?

Asked by: bj1228
Filtration needs will vary according to size of tank, yes, but also according to style of tank, species, and maintenance schedules, etc. We would recommend enough filtration for at least 200 gallons of water. So for example, two C530 filters or 3 Emperor 400 filters. BREX

where can I buy a replacement plastic sediment trap(s) for my Emperor 400?

Hi. I don't know where to find the two plastic sediment traps that go in front of the filters in my Marine Land Emperor 400 set up. Can you help? Thanks! Brian Young in Flagstaff ps I somehow managed to throw away the plastic traps, replace with filters! So now I have 4 filters instead of two and, of course, less than great water flow...Major dummy move...
Asked by: bobo
I believe you are referring to the media containers that come with the Emperor filters. These are to contain carbon, ammo chips, biobeads, etc, for additional filtration. They are directly available on our website, but you can also buy them through local fish stores, just not big chain stores. BREX
