At Marineland, we design our filter cartridges to meet the absolute highest standards of water purification, performance, and operational ease. Each pre-assembled cartridge slides easily into place, providing superior mechanical and chemical filtration, and making replacement fast, dry and effortless. The cartridge mechanically filters water through a pad of double thick poly-fiber.  Debris and waste particles are trapped, and water is chemically filtered through Marineland's Black Diamond® Premium Activated Carbon.

Inside the cartridge, a patented ribbed backing ensures even distribution of activated carbon to deliver maximum water-to-carbon contact.  The result?  Crystal clear, crystal clean water.

Penguin® Power Filter Replacement Filter is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 14.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have been running these my Marineland 350's (6) for quite awhile and they are still going strong and doing a good job. The cartridges are good and are reusable. I clean mine in tank water and drop them back in the filter housing. I use the refillable media cartridge in the second slot on each side for whatever chemicals if needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I had issues with Aerobic bacteria in my aquarium. After months of unresolved attempts (per professional suggestions) at resolving the problem, I got rid of the Marineland filter/biowheel system. After performing another partial water change, I replaced it with another brand, after approximately 7-10 days, I had nice crystal clear water. I've been using the same system now for 2 years and couldn't be happier. I'm not allowed to name the other brand, but it's also advertised on this site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hop they never discontinue My water is perfect in PH......what else can I ask. I use two pumps per tank. One in the smaller one. I made a mistake with some substrate and the waster was milk. Within about an hour the tank was just about to normal. I love that this helps me with the effort of keeping a clean crystal PH balanced tank. Thank-you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Carbon and filter floss should be separated! This filter pad is pretty good. The instructions say to remove the filter pad every month but this removes a majority of the beneficial bacteria colony. Doing this will crash your aquarium and wastes will not be broken down, killing your fish. To prevent this, add a new filter pad allong with your original one and remove the original one after a week of adding the new one. Marineland should separate the filter floss and the activate carbon into two separate cartridges since activated carbon is fully saturated 3-4 weeks after beejng placed in the aquarium filter. After the carbon is fully saturated, it will leech what it absorbed back into your tank. And filter floss should never be changed unless it's breaking. If it gets too filthy. Fill a bucket with tank water and swish the pad around until the crud comes off. This will preserve your bacteria colony.

I have a small 7gal? goldfish tank. The plastic piece says Marineland right size Z cartridge. I don't see that in the order section, only size A,B,C. Thanks, Mike

Asked by: cool123
That cartridge was originally for some Eclipse systems so you will find it here: You can always put Rite Size Z in the search bar to pull it up. BREX

Those were discontinued like 12 years ago, along with the product they go with, but we do still offer them on our website for the few folks still using them. They are under the tab for our replacement media. BREX

with the penguin 75 power filter, can the water cover the exit ramp or does it have to be lower then the ramp, also, does the bio-wheel have to be replaced or cleaned periodically, just got this complete se, so far, i like it, thanks for the help

Asked by: JIM H
Yes, the spillway can be down in the water, that is perfectly fine. It is quieter that way as well. No, you rarely clean the bio wheel, and if you do, just use a q tip to clean between the folds. Don't replace it unless it becomes damaged or warped in some way either. BREX

Can I buy Marineland c cartridges by the case?

Asked by: David 3344
We do not sell them by the case. You need to select say, the 6 pack, and enter the quantity of 6 packs you want as well. You can order numerous packs, but we don't have a special pricing for case quantity. BREX

why does one size B cartridge pack cost $14.99 and another is priced at $21.99? How many cartridges are in each pack?

Asked by: Moq37
When you click on the option, it tells you how many are in a pack. The $14.99 is a 3 pack, the $21.99 is a 6 pack. BREX

Should I replace the cartridge sooner if the nitrites and nitrates are too high and if the cartridge appears to be full of crud? Can I pull it out and rinse it off if it's been sooner than a month?

Asked by: Laura07
Yes, you can pull it and rinse it. If it is clogged and not a month old, really cut back on what you are feeding. You may also have added too many fish to start the tank. Do a partial water change, add Aquarium Conditioner and Aquarium Bacteria. BREX
