Monterey Stand side access only before tank is set up? Why!?

I just took delivery of a 220XH tank, and Monterey stand and canopy. The side panels open by sliding towards the wall. So once the tank is set 4-5 inches from the wall, I cannot open the side panels. This seems to make no sense! Why do the panels not slide forward to open so you can use the side access. Sliding towards the wall makes this feature completely worthless! Am I missing something?
Asked by: KellyD
They don’t slide toward the wall to open. If you place your hands in the center of the panel, just under the trim, and push upwards, the bottom of the panel will pop out of the groove, and it can be removed outward. BREX

Are there any pictures of the 48x18" Monterey stand with the doors open?

A few other questions as well: Is there a front and back brace? Or only a back brace? If there's a front brace can it be removed to install a sump that is 26" long? What is the length and width of 1 door opening? Thanks in advance.

can I use an overflow box with the canopy?

I have the Marineland® 75G Aquarium Majesty Ensemble and wanted to get the canopy for it. Can I use an overflow box with the canopy on top? How much open room is in the back? Is the back open like the stand? Thank You
Asked by: rayray2222
Thank you for your question. The canopy is open in the back. However, it has a center brace that helps support the lenght of the wooden canopy. Therefore, we would have to take the overflow box that you are trying to use into consideration before we could advise you correctly. We wll be emailing you directly for more information. MINI

I have an aquarium that is 48x13 and I believe it to be a 55 gallon. What is the weight limit on your stands. I have searched and cannot find any info.

They can handle up to 10 lbs per gallon. That particular stand is rated for that tank, so it can hold up to 550 gallons. BREX

Could you please send me both the product No. and prodcut UPC No for both the canopy and stand both in black. My tank is 72 inches long and 24 inches front to back
Asked by: Anonymous
If yours is an All Glass Aquarium, otherwise known as AGA or Aqueon, our canopies will not fit it, and it may not fit our stands. We make a 72 x 24 Majesty Stand in black, item 69723, a Monterey stand in black, item 60348, and a Monterey stand in red oak, item 60349. I cannot guarantee another manufacturer's tank will fit on our stands though. BREX

Is their a price list for aquariums and their stands?

Do you have a package cost for aquariums and stands? I don't own an aquarium presently.
Asked by: Bootle
Thank you for your interest in our company. However, we do not have a price list for stands nor our glass tanks, as we do not sell directly to our consumers for these items. We would recommend that you visit your local family run pet store and they should be able to help you in this matter as long as they carry Marineland products. MINI

Monterey stand for custom made acrylic tank.

I have your Monterey stand in the 220. I'm having a custom made 220 gallon acrylic tank built. It will be built the exact same size is your 220. Can I just put it on the stand without re-enforcing it? I know acrylics need 100% support on the bottom. Is the 3/4" plywood on the Monterey sufficient even though there's no center support? That's my worry. Please help. Thanks!
Asked by: yonner
It depends. Acrylic tanks typically need thicker walls or they will deflect and bow much more than glass. If the bottom is designed to rely on a uniform support structure across the middle, then our stand may not be a good fit. If the bottom is designed thicker to support itself with minimal deflection, then our stand could likely work just fine. BREX

Is there a piano hinge opening on the canopy? Is it only on certain sizes?

I have seen some with only the cabinet doors that open & some where the entire front opens with a piano hinge.
Asked by: hotdog
The 24" and 36" wide canopies open in the front and hinge upward. Canopies that are more narrow will not hinge upward. BREX

On the 48x24 Monterey stand how wide is the side panel opening, and do both sides panels come off or just left or right

trying to figure out how large a sump could be slid into the stand via the side panels and which panels can be removed, assume it would be both. Also is the back of the stand completely open or is it braced midway across.
Asked by: omykiss001
8.625 x 28.5 are the dimensions of the openings and both end panels come off. You would slide a sump in the front or the back of the stand. The end panels are so you can reach in for maintenance purpose. BREX

Asked by: susanrossow
The aquarium would not be a Monterey. The stand or canopy would be. The tank is a standard 48 x 18. That would be the size glass canopy you need. If you have a local fish store, they can special order this in for you. Otherwise, www.thatpetplace.com or www.petswarehouse.com carry our canopies. BREX

Types of wood in a Monterey Stand?

I want to get a 72x18 monterey stand. I was wondering what types of wood the stands are made of. I read in an earlier question that some were made out of Okoume plywood, but are the stands or parts made out of any other woods like oak or birch?

It is mainly made of Okoume plywood, but it does have parts made from poplar hardwood. BREX

Monterey stand water exposure

I have a combo Monterey stand, 220 gallon aquarium and canopy. Recently the sump's wall cracked at night and all water seeped onto the bottom the stand. I'm wondering if the stand will need to be replaced and/or it is designed to withstand some water exposure. There doesn't seem to be any structural damage, there is very light swelling of the edge of the wooden stands (or may be it seems this way) - otherwise the stand appears fine... Please advise, if you can.
Asked by: StevenA
I spoke with both the product manager and the engineer. They state that if you are seeing swelling, you should probably replace the stand. If you can send pics, that would help. Just email them directly and put FOR BREX in the subject line. BREX

The Monterey canopy is 11.5" I believe but what I would like to know is when the piano hinge is open, how tall or what is the height of the canopy?

I have limited height and I need to make sure I can open the piano hinge. I have approximately 75" from floor to the ceiling. If the tank stand is 34.5", the tank is 24", and the canopy is 11.5", that equals 70"s. So I need to know if I can open the piano hinge ? I have 75"-78"s approximately.
