Rated 1 out of 5 by from As bad as they say Mine did the same thing as everyone else here. Timer just counts down. Apparently they are made to last just long enough to expire the warranty. I have had it about 1-1/2 years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from HATE no battery back up Absolutely HATE that there is no battery back up! The power flickers quite a bit and if I don't notice right away my tank is consumed by algae. The lights are sitting in my basement until I can find a way to get them on a battery back up, until then they are useless to me. A waste of $200. They do work on a regular plug in timer you buy at the store but only the blue or white, not both. It's too bad cuz they are pretty nice lights and grow my plants very well, until the power flickers... I have the 36".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Numbers counting down and lights not coming on! I loved this light, until a few days ago when the timer numbers started counting down and the lights stopped working. I tried to reset the light but it still is not working. I saw another recent reviewer with the same issue. Marineland has not addressed his review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice while it worked. When it was working, it was great. Nice, bright lights. Loved the built in blue lights for night time. The issue started as the timer would reset itself frequently, Eventually everyday. It is no fun to have to reset on a daily basis. Then one day it started flickering... and eventually the timer just scrolled through numbers and the lights no longer would stay on. I am looking at their website to see what solutions there might be.... but, all I find is lots of other people complaining of the same issue. I switched from another brand of lights that had lasted me 15 years with no issues to try to save a little energy costs, but I guess I I ended up paying in a different way.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but sorely missing battery backup It’s a great teaching tool to set the lights to come on and off when kids need to do stuff (shoes on for school when the white light goes on, etc) but it’s a huge pain to set all that every time the power goes out for a second. Maybe just don’t use it during the summer when power goes out more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Light with great features I have owned the light for about a year now. I have the white lights set to come on just before I get home from work, then the night lights come on at 7:45 PM then the white lights go off at 8:00 PM and the night lights stay on until 11:00 PM. I accidentally dropped the light into the tank with the clock end up, and on another occasion I dropped it clock/timer end down underwater. I simply unplugged the light and let it air dry for a day or so. Oh and I now take the light off of the tank when doing water changes :-) I took the attached close-up pic after removing the filter unit for cleaning. I have NO hesitation about getting the unit wet. I simply wipe it with a damp cloth for dusting/cleaning purposes. The lights do produce a beaming pattern near the surface but the light is at the same time very dispersed and bright. I actually love the way it looks as it highlights some parts of the backdrop. It gives me flexibility in light and dark areas to give contrast or shadow by moving it forward or back on the tank top. I have had lots of compliments on the tank appearance and that is due, in large part, to the MarineLand led light. My next light purchase will be a Marineland unit.

What is the PAR reading at 18" depth?

Asked by: Red06
That will depend on the model light. Also, we have readings at 12" and 24" but not at 18". They vary from 61 to 102 at 12" and 45 to 61 at 24", again, depending on the model light. BREX

My LED strip light has stopped working. For the past few months it has had trouble lighting and I had to flip the switch from day to night 4 or 5 times and it would eventually turn on. Is there something that I can do to fix the light, or is it done?

Asked by: iamdoctorpaint
Not that we are aware of, no. It sounds like the switch may have stopped working. If you think it is the adapter we do sell those separately. There are different adapters depending on the light size. BREX

Can the 48 inch be used in a marine aquarium not for Coral but for fish and invertebrates

It can certainly be used as a light for simply lighting up the system, yes. It will not provide the right spectrum for anemones, corals or live rock. BREX

Hi,  I bought the advanced led bar for my 29 gal aquarium a bit ago. I want know what temperature the white leds produce? To be more consice how affective are they at growing plants? my plants haven’t been doing the best since I bought this light.

Asked by: TylerP
The kelvin rating of this light is 5,500 so it is not recommended for a planted tank. It will support some of the low light plants such as java fern or anubias, but that's about it. BREX
