Rated 2 out of 5 by from HATE no battery back up Absolutely HATE that there is no battery back up! The power flickers quite a bit and if I don't notice right away my tank is consumed by algae. The lights are sitting in my basement until I can find a way to get them on a battery back up, until then they are useless to me. A waste of $200. They do work on a regular plug in timer you buy at the store but only the blue or white, not both. It's too bad cuz they are pretty nice lights and grow my plants very well, until the power flickers... I have the 36".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Numbers counting down and lights not coming on! I loved this light, until a few days ago when the timer numbers started counting down and the lights stopped working. I tried to reset the light but it still is not working. I saw another recent reviewer with the same issue. Marineland has not addressed his review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice while it worked. When it was working, it was great. Nice, bright lights. Loved the built in blue lights for night time. The issue started as the timer would reset itself frequently, Eventually everyday. It is no fun to have to reset on a daily basis. Then one day it started flickering... and eventually the timer just scrolled through numbers and the lights no longer would stay on. I am looking at their website to see what solutions there might be.... but, all I find is lots of other people complaining of the same issue. I switched from another brand of lights that had lasted me 15 years with no issues to try to save a little energy costs, but I guess I I ended up paying in a different way.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but sorely missing battery backup It’s a great teaching tool to set the lights to come on and off when kids need to do stuff (shoes on for school when the white light goes on, etc) but it’s a huge pain to set all that every time the power goes out for a second. Maybe just don’t use it during the summer when power goes out more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Light with great features I have owned the light for about a year now. I have the white lights set to come on just before I get home from work, then the night lights come on at 7:45 PM then the white lights go off at 8:00 PM and the night lights stay on until 11:00 PM. I accidentally dropped the light into the tank with the clock end up, and on another occasion I dropped it clock/timer end down underwater. I simply unplugged the light and let it air dry for a day or so. Oh and I now take the light off of the tank when doing water changes :-) I took the attached close-up pic after removing the filter unit for cleaning. I have NO hesitation about getting the unit wet. I simply wipe it with a damp cloth for dusting/cleaning purposes. The lights do produce a beaming pattern near the surface but the light is at the same time very dispersed and bright. I actually love the way it looks as it highlights some parts of the backdrop. It gives me flexibility in light and dark areas to give contrast or shadow by moving it forward or back on the tank top. I have had lots of compliments on the tank appearance and that is due, in large part, to the MarineLand led light. My next light purchase will be a Marineland unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT IDEAL The product works it just isn't as good as expected. The LEDs are like little spotlights, i can literly see the beams of light shining through the water. There aren't enough LEDs and it doesn't spread the light out evenly through the tank. Just a poor design I guess.

I have a 20 inch double fluorescent bulb Eclipse that I'd love to retrofit with LED lights. Will this light fit within 20 inch Eclipse hood if the fluorescent fixture is removed? Are there any Marineland LED lights that will fit within an Eclipse hood?

Asked by: LFish
No idea as we have not tried to do this before, but the small one is 17-3/4" long by 6" wide. The big drawback is you would need to install something to protect it from the water. BREX

Hi, I have a 240 Gallon (96” Length x 18” Wide x 30” high) Freshwater planted tank. Can you give me a recommendation as to what type, size and how many lights will work. The Depth is 30” so I want to make sure that the light spectrum makes it down.

Asked by: Leon A
This light is not actually a plant light. It has a spectrum of 6000K, not 6500K. You would need at least 4 of the 48" size for low light plants. Or 6-8 of the 36" size. BREX

I have 6 feet long 175 gallons marine fish only tank and I have two older model led strip Lights, one of them don’t get turned on only flicker but when I repeatedly disconnect and connect male and female connectors then it works what’s the problem?

Asked by: Bk58
Hi Bk58, Actually, we have never heard of this before, but it sounds like a wiring issue of some sort. There would be no fix for it that we could advise on. BREX

Hi I have a Marineland 01C32 light which I bought years ago and I am wondering if the lights are still good. I can't find this particular Model so assume it's discontinued. Thank you for your time Debby

Asked by: DebbyC
With that lot code the lights are now 8 years old. If they still seem bright, and are working, there's no reason to switch it out. If you aren't sure about the brightness, one way to gauge if they are working well is by how much algae you are getting. Does it grow back rapidly after a water change for example? If not, then the light is fine. If it does, then you may want a newer one. We don't make any of the models from back then, they have all been updated, and we have totally new ones coming out soon. Asked by: LMol
Not that we know of, no, not without damaging the unit and voiding the warranty. BREX
