How many watts is this blub, need to know cause I have live plants in my aquarium, thanks.

Asked by: Imrmason
Wattage will only provide you the information on how much energy the light uses. It has no bearing on plant growth. You need 6500 Kelvin, and this light is only 5900 Kelvin. The kelvin rating is the critical spec on lighting for plants. BREX

I have a 48" and during a recent move the power supply was lost. Do I have to have a marine land power supply or can I pick one up at an electronic store? If so what voltage and amperage would I need?

Asked by: MrDean
We are sorry to hear you lost the power supply! It is certainly best to use the Marineland power supply and ensure you get the correct voltage and amperage. We have two lights that fit the 48" length; one is the 36"-48" and the other is the 48"-60" light, in the LED Strip Light category. The former takes a 100-240V~50-60Hz 0.5A on the input side, and a 12VDC 1000mA on the output side, and the latter takes a 100-240V~50-60HZ 1.0A on the input side, with the output being 12VDC 1000mA. Hi, How many Lumens of light does the 48" model produce? Thanks.

Asked by: mike00000
Thank you for your interest in this Marineland product! We do not measure lumens; we measure Lux at 12" and 24". The 48" model has 1220 Lux at 12" and 1040 at 24" if you are referring to the 48-60 inch model and not the 36-48 inch one. BREX

My dad got a LED light as a gift. We just got to setting it up after about 3 months. The light worked for three days and now when he turns it on, it blinks and does not stop. We have looks for an answer but can't seem to find one. Is there any answer...

Asked by: Ncwalker212
Blinking is usually due to moisture getting up into the wiring when customers place the light over an open tank, or it can be a voltage issue with the home. If it is not plugged into a power strip with surge protection, try plugging it into one. If it continues to blink, then it is a wiring issue within the light, and you should give us a call at 1-800-322-1266. BREX

Unfortunately, a pesky cat knocked my 36" LED bar into my aquarium today. I have taken it apart to dry out hopefully, it will still work. My question is, the light bar caused the water to become very cloudy with white particles, what could this be?

Asked by: Vinster8108
Most likely it will not work. It sounds like it was over open water, which is not recommended as even condensation can cause an issue. It states in the instructions to place it over a glass canopy for this reason. I hope, however, that it will indeed work, once dried out. When it fell into the tank, it probably disturbed the gravel, causing organic matter and/or gasses to be released. White particles may be calcium precipitating out as well, if you happen to have hard water, due to a change in the chemistry of the tank water because of the release of organic matter from the gravel or from gasses being released by disturbance of the gravel. My marineland LED strip stopped working, not sure if it shorted out. Is there anywhere that can repair this?

Asked by: Raul811
No, it can't be repaired. However, plug the adaptor into a wall and look for a bright green dot. If you do not see this light, most likely you only need the adaptor, and we can send you one of those. Also, the light has a one-year warranty so if you are within that warranty period, we can replace the entire light if that is necessary. Please call us at 1-800-322-1266. BREX

I am having a problem with my light. It will turn on and light up but the light is very dim, not a bright as before. I tried turning slightly the plug that it connects to and it will become brighter but not stay bright, What can I do?

Asked by: Jessie123
Since turning the plug seems to affect it that is possibly a transformer issue or possibly an issue with the connection between the light and the transformer. If you have had the unit less than a year, it would be under warranty. If it is not under warranty, however, we would still be happy to send you a transformer to try. I will reach out to you directly. BREX

I have 85 GAL Marineland fish tank. the measurement from side to side is 62 inches. Can 48-60 LED Model stand be extended to place on top of this tank?

Asked by: hoyteoh
We don't make an 85 gallon tank nor one that is 62 inches long. The legs extend out a maximum of 60" and would need to rest on a glass canopy instead of gripping the ends of the tank, if you have such an odd sized tank. BREX

Interested in the 36-48 inch single bright for my 46 bowfront. How many white, and blue bulbs does it have? How many watts? How many lumens? How many kelvins? Is the light more white, or orange/yellow looking? If ordered from Amazon is it under warranty?

Asked by: Sandie
102 white bulbs, and 6 blue bulbs. 7 watts total, PAR is 16 at 12" and 12 at 24", Lux is 1032 at 12", and 923 at 24", Kelvin is 6417. It is more white. It does not matter what vendor you use, as long as it is not second hand. Must be brand new to have warranty. It is not recommended for planted tanks or reef tanks. BREX

Asked by: BobRow
It is - under parts. I don't know which size unit you own; assuming it is a single bright, then you either need the 500 mA or the 1000 mA. Here is a link to all of the parts for the various LED lights: http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-parts/Lighting-Systems/LED-Lights.aspx. BREX

3 years into having my LED strip light, I have started having a MAJOR algae problem. I've read that LED lights should be replaced every 6 months to avoid excessive algae growth. Do you sell a light replacement or do I need a whole new unit?

Asked by: LuvYourPetz
Neither. Algae is caused by excess nutrients. It can be caused by tap water as well, that is high in phosphates and nitrates. Algae can occur at any time, age of the tank. LED bulbs are not replaceable, so it would require the entire strip, but it is not necessary. Do a couple of good water changes of 30% a few days apart, and then add Tetra SafeStart Plus. Make sure you vacuum the gravel well. BREX
