What is a good replacement for an Ecplise 3 lighting system? Would the Marineland Hidden LED lighting system be good for both fish and plant life?

Asked by: Merle
Yes, it would. You can install it under the frame in the front of the tank. It would work well with most types of plants. BREX

I have a 6' fish tank, and the top is complicated for lights (not exactly clear). Will this work, and will it grow plants?

Will this light work for plant growthin my 6' fishtank? Would I be better off with 3 21" lights, or 4 17" lights? Or, should I double the amount of light and put some in the front and the back? This is a standard 6' long 125 g tank.
Asked by: EMSY
While our Hidden LED lights are not marketed for their strength to grow or sustain aquatic plant growth, depending on the types of plants and your plants' light needs, you may still be successful. The issue is the depth of your tank and how much light energy is needed to permeate through that depth to reach your plants for photsynthesis needs. While you may need to do some extra research on what amount of light energy your plants require, the specs of this LED's light is below (scroll down and click on the "product manuals and instructions" link for lighting spec information). http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-lighting/LED-Aquarium-Lighting/freshwater-saltwater-reef-aquarium-led-lighting-system.aspx ML2

Marineland Hidden LED Lighting System w/30-gl Saltwater Tank

Are the 460nm blue LEDs enough to support life such as sea anemones and/or plants? Also, I'd like to leave the blue LEDs on all night? Is this ok for the fish, crustaceans, etc?
Asked by: Ranman
This light is meant more as a supplemental light as the white lights in it are not 10,000-14,000 Kelvin. You would need the Reef LED Strip. No, do not leave them on all night as this would not occur in nature, and would be detrimental to the livestock. BREX

I'm trying to get enough light for dwarf baby tears. I currently have a 16 G bow front with a 15 watt light. Will this provide enough extra light?

I need something fully submersible as I have a hang on back filter that would get in the way of hanging another light on the back rim.
Asked by: Snorg
Assuming your 15 watt bulb is a grow light or plant bulb with 6500 Kelvin, yes, this should be enough. One note of concern is that I assume you will mostly have the baby tears in the front of the tank since it is a foreground plant. Since your tank is a bow front, this will not fit on the front. It is submersible, so I am assuming you plan on putting it further down on the back of the tank. This may still be too far away if the plants are in the foreground. BREX

What size tank does this item fit?

I have a 60 gallon tank. Would this item be to small?
Asked by: nicki70
For something like a 60 gallon tank, most people put two of these in the tank. These are 21" long so that would cover 42" of the 48". They are quite bright, by the way, if you are considering them as the sole light for your tank. BREX

hidden led lighting

Are the hidden led lighting lights suitable for coral growth, and if so how many do I need for my 55 gallon led aquarium kit?
Asked by: aj1982
These lights are meant to be more of a supplemental light and should not be relied upon as the sole means of light for a reef tank. I would recommend the 48" Reef LED. BREX

Can you hook up more than one, end to end?

I currently have one of these light strips on my 20 gallon tank, but am getting ready to set up my 120 gallon tank which is 6' long. What do you suggest?
Asked by: nicwatts
No, they do not connect like you are hoping. I would recommend the LED strip lights. Which one depends on what you will be housing in the tank, but I would recommend two 48" lights which have legs that extend out to 60 inches. One in front and one in back. BREX

Best way to clean hard water deposits?

Hello, with the hidden LED's being submerged I am wondering the best way to clean them not only for hard water but also for algae that may get behind the light. 1. Can vinegar be used to wipe them down for the hard water? 2. Is it alright to snap the lightbulb out to clean the assembly area? or how do you recommend cleaning around the light itself? Thanks
Asked by: cmclien
Yes in answer to both questions. The light portion can be pulled out so you can clean around it and clean the black frame portion. I would recommend a distilled white vinegar solution with hot water. Probably a 50:50 ratio and use a soft cloth that won't scratch. BREX

Does this work for glo fish?

Wondering if this light has enough blue lights for Glo fish? Can you run the blue lights with the white lights or would we need to add more blue?
Asked by: Adriscoll
You can run the blue and white lights together or just the blue alone. The blue lights are deeply blue, 460 nm. I would suggest trying just this light to see if it is enough blue for the glofish or not. I think it would be, but that depends on the individual tank. If it is not, then supplement with the Accent Light in Blue. BREX

Just bought the LED 21" Lighting system and plug doesn't work

The light and on/off switch work fine, but the wall plug connector doesn't work at all. How can I get a new wall plug connector for this. Love the light!
Asked by: timpersj
I'm a bit confused as to how the light and on/off switch can work, but the plug does not. However, you would need to send the light back to us for replacing, anyway, as we do not have the plug available separately. BREX

Can we retrofit the LED system onto a Eclipse 24 x 13 lid

The 20 gal ?? aquarium (24" x 13" x 22") aquarium uses a ballast system with 2 fluorescent tubes. Will the 17" or 21" LED system work and fit the eclipse lid?
Asked by: Alison
It will not fit into the lid, but you can attach it to the top frame and hide it under the frame. We would recommend the 21" size for your tank. BREX

You should be able to fit that in no problem. It clips to the top frame and tucks under it. BREX

Good evening. We bought a Marineland aqarium from a family friend. Since then, the lights no longer work. They are each 22 7/8 inches long. Help?

Neither of my set work and I would like to get them running again. I would like to replace the plexiglass under them as well. Feedback?? Just lost the last of my goldfish, 6 years old and a fighter....restock with many goldfish and ghost shrimp....
Asked by: Ironnurse2
I would recommend the 24-36" Advanced Strip Light. As for the plexiglas, that would depend on the size tank you have, but you should be able to buy a glass canopy for it. BREX

That is just a T10, 40 watt bulb. T10 just designates the size of the bulb. They are available through hardware stores in the lighting section. If you want to locate a pet store in your area, go to Buying Options, and enter your zip code in the dealer locator. BREX

Reef tank follow-up question

Previously you mentioned that this is reef safe and that the older model was 10,000K while the new model is 14,000K. How would one know if they have the newer model or the older model? In addition, how does this correlate with the 6,500K white LEDs that is listed in the specifications or am I comparing two separate things?
Asked by: jwkim
You have the wrong light. The Reef Capable was 10,000 K and has been updated with new technology in leds. It is now 14,000 K and is now called Reef LED Strip Light. BREX

Why isn't the LED bulb replaceable?

I bought two 21" for my 55 gal and one of the LEDs is not working properly. The blue lights only come on during the nighttime setting. I'm really disappointed because I haven't even had them for 9 months yet! I just read the advertisement and the LEDs are suppose to last a lifetime. What's up with that already? Otherwise I love these lights!!!!!
Asked by: 1226Rose
There are actually several reasons. The biggest one is safety of course, since the bulbs are wired in, but also, they are very delicate, and it is not like pulling out a bulb and putting in another one, it is more complex than that... You do have a one year warranty. Simply ship it back to us and we will replace it for you. BREX

I bought a marineland colourr changing 20 in bubble wand I plug it in to the power supply it only worked for a minute and wouldn't work after that could you tell me what the problem is
Asked by: brian20
Probably not without additional information. I see you are based in Scotland. If you did not buy this in your country, but ordered it online from the States, the voltage will not be correct, and the light may have burned out. BREX
