I'm looking for a replacement hood for our tank. We have a 30"x12", but need a 36"x12". Our light still works, so we just need the cover. Ours has broken and been glued so many times that I cannot get it back together. Can you help?

Asked by: anne2016
We do not sell direct. Hoods are sold through local fish stores, and various online vendors. You cannot buy a hood without the light, however, so you will need to purchase the entire ensemble. BREX

I have a marineland 60 gallon tank I bought there with 2 -23 x11 1/4 lighted hoods. One of the lights needs a new ballast. Do you sell them? If I need to replace one or both of the hoods do you carry replacements.

Asked by: JerryT
We do not sell the ballasts, no. If you need a new hood you would need the 75485 or 75245. BREX

I'm looking for a replacement lighting and filtration hood system for my Eclipse aquarium. It is a 15 gallon tall and I believe it's the Eclipse System 1. Will this fit my aquarium. Thanks

Asked by: marygamblin
You would need a 20 x 10 inch hood and a filter such as the Penguin 100. Yes, the recessed hood in this size should fit your tank. BREX

Need to replace the Marineland tank cover. 11.5x23 inches, in the top center there are  LED lights in a rectangle container. I bought the whole system at Petsmart. They do not have the replacement top.

If you require just the cover, and not the light, that is not sold separately. I will contact you directly. BREX

I'm looking for a hood w light 22 1/2x 16 1/2. Do you have that size? I need two for my 100 gallon tank.

Asked by: Cyn59
Basically, you need one that is 24 x 18. Manufacturing companies generally round up. No, we do not make full hoods for large tanks any longer. If you have our 110 tank which is 48 x 18 x 31, then you would need the glass canopy and a separate strip light...or two....for it. BREX

Is there a hood that is 36 inches long but will fit the width of a 125 gallon aquarium? Would need two 36 inch hoods, has a big brace in the center.

Asked by: Grandnat
No. We only make standard sized hoods for tanks up to 12" wide. The largest is the 48 x 12. For larger tanks like yours, we sell glass canopies, and you purchase a separate light, such as a LED strip light. BREX

My hood contains 2 fluorescent bulbs and a filtering system (Size H filter). If you no longer make this, can I get something that would work? The tank measures 30x12 inches.

Asked by: Dand
That is the Eclipse 3 Filtration and Lighting System, and no, we do not make it any longer. You would need to purchase a new glass canopy. LED or fluorescent strip light, and new filter. Or, if all you need is the light, cut the cord to the light on the Eclipse, and then add a Hidden LED which clips to the front top frame of the tank. BREX

tring to find a full hood for aquarium at work     recessed dimensions are 28 3/4 x 16 3/4      one thats on there now is a 30"  and because it doesnt fit right, it tipped the other day and the light on top fell in tank

Asked by: Noreen321
Recessed measurements do not help in ascertaining what tank you own. For any of our hoods to fit it would have to be one of our tanks. All of our tanks have a white sticker with a ship's anchor on it. If your tank has this sticker, then measure the length, width and height of the tank. It sounds like it will be about 30 x 18 which might be one of our column tanks. If so, we don't make a full hood for that, only a glass canopy. It might be easier if you call direct, 1-800-322-1266 or email us at techsupport@marineland.com. BREX

I have an Eclipse 3 filter/lighting system. My acrylic tank is only 30 inches long. Brex responded that 75485 Black Flouresent Hood 48 x 12 is replacement. How can 48 " fit on 30" tank????

Asked by: Bunkybev
I responded with that item number because you indicated you owned a 60 gallon tank. We do not make a 30" long 60 gallon tank. To replace the PFE3 with a new hood, you will need the 75305, 30" full hood. BREX

I have a 55 gal tank with 2 hoods - 11 I/2 in by 23 in. Do you have a hood to fit it?

Asked by: Fisher Man
You would need to look for a sticker on the tank. All aquarium manufacturers place a sticker on their tanks with some type of wording. Ours has a ship's anchor, and Built by...initials....date on it. If it is our tank, our hood, 75485 will fit. Otherwise, it will not. BREX

The 60 gallon tank takes the 75485 Black Fluorescent Full Hood which is 48 x 12. You will need a new filter system as well, of course. BREX

Do you  make a LED replacement light for these hoods?

No, not really. That being said, you could purchase the LED Strip Light and set it on the glass portion of the hood. It is not intended as a replacement per se, but will definitely work. BREX

Looking for a hood

I need a hood and light for a 27gallon cube aquarium. Can you help?
Asked by: olivernco
We do not sell direct, no. You would need to either special order it through a local fish store or you could buy it through www.thatpetplace.com or www.petswarehouse.com. The item number is 34200 for the glass canopy. As for a light, that depends on what you are keeping in your tank, but I would recommend an 18-24 inch LED light. For freshwater fish only, either the LED Light Strip or the Advanced LED Light Strip. BREX

Aqaurium 48 X 24 X 13"

Two Marineland Hoods with one 18" Flourescent daylight 15 Watt bulb in each hood. Is there additional watt bulbs available for these hoods. I would like to increase the wattage, to better reflect the color of my African Cichlids. No plants in aquarium. Please advise if items are available and if this is a beneficial suggestion. I do not want to go to LED lights at this time.
Asked by: Fastwillie
No, that would be the maximum wattage you could use. However, you are kind of looking at this wrong. All wattage does is provide you with the amount of energy a light uses. It does not provide you with the lumens or the amount of actual light the bulb is putting out. So try some different bulbs with different ratings, keeping in mind that if you get too bright, you might cause too much algae. For example, most standard fluorescent bulbs used in these strips are 5000 Kelvin or 5000K. Some may be 5500K. You might look for a bulb that is 6000K. 6500K is what is required to grow plants, so if you wanted to add some plants (African cichlids live in a mostly rocky environment, but some grasses do grow there, and Jungle Val is a popular one to add to their tank), you could try this. If you don't add plants, you will get algae. Additionally, some bulbs have more of a yellow light, or more of a blue light. Most bulbs will have a spectrum chart on their outer package, so be sure to read this, and keep track of what you purchase, and how you do or don't like it to find the right lighting for your needs. One last piece of advice, you don't have to buy expensive bulbs at the pet store. Check out your local DIY hardware store for bulbs at a fraction of the cost. Just remember that whatever you choose, 15 watts is the most it can be. Anything higher can burn out the ballast or potentially start a fire. Besides, more watts just equates to more of an electric bill, not more light for the fish. BREX
