Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bare bones replacement! While I am happy that the unit worked well once it was set up, I was very disappointed that in was just the shell of the unit. EVER SINGLE PLASTIC PIECE that attaches to this is missing, even the propeller!! My advice to someone buying this—save your old unit—you will need to take everything off of it. You even have to pry off the little plastic pieces that hold the roller! And no instructions came with it to tell you where and how the parts fit!! I would buy it again if I needed to, now that I know what is involved, but this is really poor business!! The only reason I would recommend it is that this is the only place you will find it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good so far The rubber ends seem like they can easily slip off or tear. I had to take out to realign, not clean. The rubber ends shifted and it stopped functioning properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Able to get individual part I like that I am able to get one part to hopefully fix an issue. Otherwise I have to order the entire motor. So far I've had this tank for several years, so it is good that this only wore out recently.

Hi Susan, Here you go: http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-parts/Aquarium-Kit-Parts/Eclipse-Systems-Parts/Filtration-Parts/Impeller-Housing-for-Eclipse-System-2-3-Hex-5-Corner-5.aspx. You must have the Hex 5 Eclipse system. BREX

How do you get the old part out in an Eclipse 5 gallon tank? I can find no way to remove it. Thanks

Asked by: brokenpump01
Thanks for asking, brokenpump01! To get to the impeller start by removing the intake tube. The piece the intake tube attaches to, the impeller housing, should also be removed. Then you should see the impeller itself! I hope this helps. Marineland is happy to walk you through this by phone at 1-800-526-0650.

I Have a 15 gallon eclipse system. It uses type "g" Marineland filters. I need a new impeller but don't know which one to order. I also really need a new hood if you carry it

Asked by: Labcat4242
Well, you either have the rounded front tank that is the Eclipse 12 gallon or the PFE1 which fit the 10 gallon, 15 high, and 20XH tanks. Unfortunately, both have been discontinued for several years, and neither the impeller nor the hood would be available at this point. We would recommend a new hood, filter, and lighting system at this time. BREX

My Hex 7 has suddenly started making noise. It has been perfectly quiet until this began. I removed the pump assembly and ran the motor without the impeller. No sound. The part number pr3342 is not recommended for the Hex 7. Is this the correct part?

Asked by: Virginia Rose
Yes, this would be the correct part for your tank. The motor will never make a sound. It is simply a magnet. Your impeller is most likely worn since this tank has been discontinued for 7+ years. BREX

I have  BIO-WHEEL POWER FILTER EMPEROR 280  is PRO SERIES And my filter is doing a bad noise and is the DUAL IMPELLER can I buy that item

Asked by: Darknes
We are sorry to hear this is happening Darknes! Have you tried removing the impeller, cleaning it well by removing detritus, then soaking it in distilled white vinegar? We would also recommend using a q tip or twisted paper towel to swab out the motor region as well. If you are using sand as your substrate, this could have damaged the impeller, and then, yes, we would recommend purchasing a new one. This is available on our site, but we do not ship to Puerto Rico, unfortunately. You might visit our Buying Options tab at the bottom of any page on the site, and enter your zip code into the dealer locator to see if you have a local store in your country or not. BREX

I have a Eclipse 3. There was a power outage and the pump stopped working. How do I know whether it's the motor or the impeller? And how do I go about changing it? I've lost the manual. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

Asked by: Ghostrider
Good morning! Thank you for your inquiry. To remove the impeller you would need to remove the intake tube. There will be about 1" of the intake tube that is still on the bottom of the motor (this is a cover plate) Pull this away from the remainder of the pump. Inside you should see a fan blade that you can pull out and clean both the impeller and the inside of the motor assembly. When you go to reinstall this, please make sure that you plug the motor in first, then replace the impeller to see if the unit will begin spinning. If not, then you will need a replacement motor. Unfortunately, if the motor is completely dead, then you would be looking at getting a different setup, as these units are discontinued. MINI

Hello I have a 37 gallon Eclipse. I am not sure if it is th 2 or 3. I need to replace the impeller on it. Ho do I know which impeller to purchase?

37 gallon Eclipse
Asked by: Ghst13
That system would include the Eclipse 3. The Eclipses fit certain size tanks or certain lengths and widths of tanks. A 37 gallon is 30" long x 12" wide. PR3089 is the correct impeller, see link: http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-parts/Filtration-Products-and-Skimmers/Eclipse-Filtration-Parts/Magnetic-Impeller-Assembly-Orangefor-Eclipse-PFE3.aspx.
