We are not like a standard retailer online, so we don't do a lot of business with the carrier. Therefore, we don't get the best shipping rates. Parts are also available through other websites, but that can vary, so we make them available on ours to make sure that our customers can at least get parts if they need them. BREX

How do I purchase a 6in long biowheel from Marineland.I only see this one online.

Asked by: DWISH
You need to determine what system you own. We sell the bio wheel to all of our systems, on our website. All of our equipment has a name and/or model number molded into it, either on the cover to the filter or the motor if it is an Eclipse. BREX

How  can I keep my bio-wheel clean?

Asked by: John B F
It's not supposed to be clean. The sludge you see on it is what filters your water; this is bio load. If it becomes excessive, you can use a q tip to clean between the folds, but you should never thoroughly clean the bio wheel. BREX

Do you have a PDF specification sheet for the different biowheel sizes that maps physical dimensions to model numbers?

The wheel is about 6" by 3" (rough dimensions) and is a canopy mounted wheel. What part is it?
Asked by: 0000
None of our Eclipses or regular filters like the Penguins or Emperors take one that large. If it is a part of a canopy it must be one of the Bio Wheel Canopy parts. Here is a link to that part: As the parent product has been discontinued for a long time, I do not have specs on that biowheel. BREX

how do i know my biowheel is working??

its spinning but i dont feel like there is any activity (how do i know that the bioactivity is taking place?) is there a living culture on this product? does it die? how do i know if i need to replace my biowheel? thanks, Stew
Asked by: stew
You will never see any activity. It builds bio load over a period of weeks. You never need to replace it unless it becomes damaged. They go for years usually, depending on your maintenance of them. Don't clean it other than to remove excess waste with a q tip every few months. And yes, the bacteria can die if it becomes dried out or you use harsh chemicals in the tank, but it will re-grow. BREX

I have an Marineland Magnum 250 HS With Bio wheel Pro 30 .

The previous owner damaged the wheel an also got rid of the two triangler parts that the bearings mount on to rotate. Which wheel and two pieces do I need?
Asked by: Angel2
I could not find an exact match but bought the Canopy BIO Wheel Assembly - BIO - Wheel part number PR11129. It sat too low in the original housing of the Pro 30 so I ended up cutting two small sections of fish tank air tubing and placing them on each end of the wheel. I then set this in the housing and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure if Marineland has an exact replacement for the original BIO Wheel.

What's p/n for 7.5" Biowheel? (It's for Eclipse3 aquarium.)

The two manuals that came with are not clear and retail stores don't carry a 7.5" wheel. Q2) How do I get the pump pumping water thru it? -Thank you.
Asked by: Ulli
The item number is PR2002 and you can order it from our website: To get it moving, your water flow has to be strong, so clean your impeller and your pump. Also, make sure you have the bearings the biowheel sits in. They are easy to lose. BREX

marineland 200 biowheel filtration system

My biowheel isn't turning. I thought maybe I needed a replacement biowheel but I am not sure which is the correct model. Can you please advise? Do you think it is the biowheel? The water is flowing through but the wheel doesn't turn on a regular basis.
Asked by: Anonymous
If it stops and starts, it is working the way it was intended. If it won't turn at all, remove the impeller and clean it, the motor area, and the intake tube to make sure there is no buildup or blockage. Use white vinegar. Also, make sure the biowheel bearings are in place. You would only need a new wheel if it is warped, torn or damaged somehow. That one takes the PRBW2350B. BREX

Is there a piece that connects this to the Magnum 350 filter and would I still need the motor?

It connects to the outlet tube. However, we do not sell the biowheel separately from the canister filter. This manual shows the parts and how it all connects: BREX

I am looking for a replacement Bio-Wheel for my Emperor 280. Is this it?

I think I need to replace it because at one time my tank was very high in amonia, and it seemed to "cleanse" or "bleach" the bio-wheel. Since then, it seems the bio-wheel does not look the way it used to and it stays very clean and white. Will this bio-wheels develope new bacteria on its own if they it's wipped out, or do I need to start with a new one that has special embedded bacteria in it? I am not sure if the bio-wheel comes with stuff in it, or if it is just a folded piece of material that collects and produces the bacteria from your tank? How does it work. Also, is this the right part for an Emperor 280? If not, which part is it? Thank you!
Asked by: new2fish
No, it is PR2140. The biowheels do not come with bacteria, it grows on its own, over time, usually within the first few weeks. You do not need to replace it; it has bacteria on it. Not sure why the color is staying so clean, in most cases it won't. However, you must be properly maintaining your tank. This will make a big difference. My biowheels are very clean looking but I do a water change every 1-2 weeks, and change my media once or twice a month. BREX
