Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed I've been running my C360 for 4 years. It started to show some age a few weeks ago, pulling in air shooting bubbles out the outflow every 30-45 seconds. I knew there was a leak because it would continually shoot air for hours on end. I ordered this gasket kit which IMO is cheap and exactly what you need for regular maintenance. After a certain amount of time the rubber just becomes rigid from the heat of the motor and need replacing. I got mine after 4 days of placing an order. Replaced all gaskets and now she is running smooth. Perfect.

Why is there not the smaller o-ring?

I made a foolish mistake and tried to replace the smaller o-ring on the hose connector with o-rings from this C360 o-ring package and was not able to refit the connection again. Why is this lower o-ring not already supplied or even offered and how can I go about getting another because my filter is now leaking instead of just sucking air?
Asked by: MrProbst
When I asked Marineland the same question they said that the o-ring in the kit was for the valve block. I think they are trying to use a larger diameter o-ring to create a tighter fit. I also have a filter that will not go back together. Support just tried to tell me that I did not have the locking mechanism lined up properly.

Continuous issues with main gasket

I replaced the gasket on my C-360 about 6 months ago. I purchased the filter about 6 months before that. Is there some other issue I'm unaware of that would cause me to replace this part every six months??
Asked by: Frustrated1
If you tend to maintain the filter frequently, as recommended, but do not use a lubricant on the o ring each time, you can get excessive wear on the o ring. BREX

How can I stop my C360 from leaking?

I just put a new gasket kit on 2 weeks ago because it was leaking between the bottom canister and the head unit. It's still leaking from there as well as the output part of the valve block.
Asked by: JoeOwen
Sounds like it is more of a valve block issue. The valve block itself has 4 o rings on the nozzles that go into the motorhead, plus o rings inside of it, that you cannot access. If you purchased a gasket kit, it would have come with the o rings for the valve block as well. You can try replacing those or replace the whole valve block. BREX

where do i find instructions on changing o rings, and how many are on a 360c canister filter

Asked by: Krisbrown
I'm not sure that we have instructions on changing the o rings, unless some come with the o ring kit. It's basically just pull them off, put them on, and lube with silicon lubricant. It has a large one around the motorhead, and 2 each on each of the nozzles on the underside of the valve block. There is also one on the port that extends down from the motorhead and connects to the top tray. BREX

Canister Filter noise

I'm getting air into my C-360 filter from somewhere. It has been making a sort of rhythmic sucking noise then I can see the air moving through the outlet tube and into the tank. Will replacing the gaskets solve this? Also, when I use the primer, I can sometimes feel water escaping from it - not a lot but there is some. Is that normal? I purchased the filter new last October, I think. So, it's not too old. Thanks for your time.
Asked by: Seres
I had the same problem with mine on my 75 gal tank. There was a small leak around my o-ring that once I got my ear close to it I could just barely hear. I opened it back up and lube the o-ring again and this time it sealed.

Where does the 2nd small o-ring & the 4th gasket go?

I've been reading through the questions, I see someone asked where the 4 gaskets go and the answer said the trays minus the top tray. That = 3 gaskets, where does the 4th go? Same with the small o-rings, there was an answer saying the tube that comes down from the motor head but that is only 1 small o-ring, where does the 2nd go? Is there extra parts in this kit? Some instructions to go with the kit or somewhere on the website, or with the filter when you purchase would be great. I'm new to this and have been searching for over an hour trying to figure out how to replace the gaskets and o-rings.
Asked by: Dee1981
Thanks for the reply however there is only one nozzle that comes out of the valve block? Both small o-rings go on the one nozzle? It only came with one o-ring on it.

What can cause leaks from the motor head. I suspect the O-ring but it is recently bought.

C-360 canister filter. I think everything is postioned and seated inside ok, but I wonder if it requires a 4th tray gasket (at the topmost stacknflow tray-the ceramic tubes)? C-360 is positioned below 90 gallon tank about 48 inches. There are no other leaks at the connections or tubes. Thank you.
Asked by: Ship
There is no gasket on the top tray, but check to make sure there is an o ring on the little tube that extends down from the underside of the motorhead and connects to the top tray. Is there silicone lubricant on the o ring? It was supposed to be put on the o ring at the manufacturing plant. Please call us if you cannot resolve this. 1-800-322-1266. B-Rex

C-360

Where can I get the head unit only? I own 5 of these canisters and love them. The one that is leaking is due to the fittings where the hose block joins. I have tried the same head on different hose blocks and it does not matter. This one still allows water to get in the head unit and leak out of the seam. Not sure the gasket kit can fix this. Need the head unit.
Asked by: rgpatton
The motorhead is not available separately. We would definitely recommend a new o ring and some silicon lubricant first, but otherwise, you would need to replace the whole unit, if the motorhead is the issue. There is a 3 year warranty. if it is within that warranty, give us a call. Make sure you have your lot code and/or receipt. 1-800-322-1266. B-Rex

I have two c 360 units. one is for a 70 gallon freshwater aquarium and the other for a 30 gallon salt water aquarium.
Asked by: smack
There is a seal that is not air-tight. This would cause both air and water leaks. If your filters are less than 1 year old, try applying silicone lubricant all the way around the O-ring cover seal and also around the O-rings on your valve block. If your filters are over a year old, we recommend replacing these gaskets (item # PR11942.) Marineland C-360

I have a C-360 and I lost one of the 4 gaskets that seal each tray together, and I cant find the gasket kit anywhere not even your website, so my question is will the C-160/C220 and C-530 gasket be the same size as the C-360, like i said all I need is one of the 4 gaskets that seal the stacking trays.
Asked by: css49017
The gasket kit that you are in need of is item # PR11942. We are unfortunately on backorder for that kit, expecting more in stock around 1/7/2014. Should you need the gaskets sooner, www.petmountain.com does have this item currently in stock. Unfortunately, the gaskets only come as a complete set and we do not have just the stacking tray gaskets by themselves. Marineland2

I read the answer from Brex that they were back in stock on 12/11/13 but I checked today (12/17/13) and they are again not available.
Asked by: PeggyDavis
Believe it or not, yes, we are. I spoke with the person in planning. Because of the length of time they were out of stock, there were a number of orders that had been placed on backorders from our distributors, etc, and they shipped as soon as the gaskets came in. We do have another shipment due right after the first of the year. You might also check with some of the online vendors, like www.petmountain.com or www.petsolutions.com over the next few days to see if they come back in stock on their sites. Brex

If silicon lubricant is required for regular maintenance, why was it not included with the filter?

It was also not mentioned in the user's manual and not available to purchase on your site.
Asked by: tetraquarium
Using silicon lubricant to keep canister o rings in good shape is a known part of maintenance within the industry and hobby. All canisters or any other equipment (such as powerheads or utility pumps) that have o rings in their design require such lubrication regularly or you run the risk of having the o rings fail sooner than normal. We used to place a very small tube of it (enough for one application) in the box with the filter for folks to start out with, but instead, we now do the initial application ourselves, directly to the o ring on the motorhead. Silicon lubricant is readily available through local fish stores. As we do not make a lube for retail sale, we do not offer one on our site. BREX

When will the gasket/o-ring kit be available for the c-360? It is twice as expensive with other retailers.

Also, why do the canisters not come with extras since they seem to have a habit of causing leaks in less than a year of use?
Asked by: tetraquarium
The main reason o rings go out is because hobbyists do not place silicon lubricant on them after every maintenance. We expect o rings to come in sometime later this week so they should be available again by next week. BREX
