Magnetic Impeller Assembly for the Eclipse® PFE1.  Black.
Magnetic Impeller Assembly - PFE1 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from New impeller made a huge difference! Most of my tanks have been running for years, and I have marineland filters (eclipse and penguins) on most of them. Recently after a power outage, I noticed my 10 year old eclipse filter was making a grinding noise. Though it still was making a good water flow, no amount of cleaning fixed the odd noise, and a recommendation for a new magnet was found. I ordered it and replaced it (and in doing so could feel how much stronger the new magnet was in comparison) and the filter is working better than it has in years, and silently! I'm extremely happy at such an easy repair to revitalize my old filters, and will definitely order more for my other tanks as needed!

I am new to the whole eclipse thing and stuff and I just bought a aquarium off of Craigslist to put my Oscars in now it is 8 months later and I FINALLY decide to do some research on the aquarium and I learned that it is a PFE 1 system what is a impeller?

Asked by: Karma_The_Dog
If it is a PFE1, the tank is too small for your oscars. The impeller is the piece inside the motor that turns and creates a vortex to bring water up into the filter system. BREX

Where exactly is the impeller located and how do I replace it on a PFE 1?

Asked by: Karma_The_Dog
It is inside the pump. Pull the intake tube off, then pull the bottom cover, known as the impeller housing, off of the bottom of the pump. The impeller should come out with it. BREX

The # on top of my housing says PFES O5HX. Which impeller is the right one? When I type in that # on your site it lists several impellers that look similar.

That is the Eclipse Hex 5. Type in hex 5 to pull a page up with all available parts. You need PR3342. BREX

Will this fit an emperor 330 filter? If not do you still have replacement impeller for the 330?

Asked by: xfishx
We have never made an Emperor 330. I think you are referring to the Penguin 330, and no, we do not have an impeller for that filter any longer. BREX

Eclipse 1 pump not running continuously

I have an Eclipse 1 that is probably from the mid-1990's. I hadn't used it for more than 20 years so I didn't know if it would work or not. Fortunately it did start up without a grumble. But it's now pumping water for a couple of minutes, shutting off, then turning back on and running for a few more minutes. It's continuing this cycle and I know that's not what it's supposed to do. I can hear the motor running so I don't think it's a bad motor. I checked here for any ideas on how to help it stay on. First, I soaked the impeller in white vinegar for about a half hour, rinsed it well, and reassembled it. Didn't work. I had also read that the water level needed to be half way up the motor housing so I added water. It did turn on by itself and appeared to be running properly. But this morning it's not pumping for a few seconds and then pumping starts again. Any suggestions as to what my next step should be to get it to run continuously like it should?

If you didn't already do this, use a q tip and vinegar up inside the motor and clean that area really well. Do you have a bubbler near the intake tube? If so, move it. Are you using sand or gravel? Sand is sucked up easily and can cause issues. If it is none of these things, it would probably mean a new impeller. BREX

PFE1 Impeller replacement Question 2

I tried to look up what you listed as my needed replacements and it came up as nothing found. Help.... I spend most of my day by this tank and it is driving me crazy. I had bought a marineland eclipse 1 pump at a local brick & mortar as a back up when I started having problems getting parts for this tank... which before I even opened it the store had closed. The motor of the pump is too low and would be in the water. My husband has passed away and he was the techie in the house, so this has me feeling a bit "out of the water" on how to fix it. I don't want to have to buy another tank as I really love this one, even though we already had to modify the lighting as the new ones we would get would last less then a day before the center of the light would go dim. We bought a Marineland LED lightbank and my husband cut a hold in the top of the tank to fit it. I had a special stand made to fit this tank, so I'd really like to keep this footprint... Plus it is watched as much as the TV by my grandkids.... they were reason we bought the tank in the first place. Please answer on your site as I am have a very hard time finding messages on our email...junk mail has loaded it up since my husband passed away... If you can't tell I really need your help.... Jodie

Hey Jodie, why don't you just call in to us? I think that would be simplest. You will need several parts, and we can give you the item numbers. Just tell the person you need the pump filtration assy, the impeller, impeller housing, intake tube and flexible motor mount for the Eclipse 1. You can then order through someone online or a catalog company, if your local stores do not carry parts. We can give you that info as well. Our number is 1-800-322-1266. We can also answer most any other question you may need answered. BREX

PFE1 Impeller replacement

After needing to unplug my pump motor to clean my tank and the basket and impeller it has started to make a loud noise, I need to unplug it and plug it in several times before it quiets a bit. My impeller does not look like the one in the photo, mine is longer, my tank measures 10 inches wide x 20 inches across the front x 20 inches high. Parts for this eclipse tank seem to be hard to find, I hope you can help.

It sounds like you have the old style, which we upgraded back in 1998 or 1999. Parts for that style are not available at all. You would need to buy the pump, inpeller, impeller housing, flexible motor mount, and intake tube to upgrade to the new version. BREX
