how do you remove the shaft and white assembly that is pinned inside the old magnet to install the new magnet

Looking down into the magnet portion from the blade half, you will see two black "tabs" for lack of a better word that grip the white portion of the impeller. You need to pull these back while pulling the impeller out. They hold it in place. BREX

Magnum 350

The impeller rattles on and off when running. Magnet shows scoring. Impeller was replaced 3 years ago it is still in good condition. Do i need to replace the magnet? Product # PR1430 impeller exhaust tube does it match Magnum 350 ? Please advise. Thanks. Daniel

Yes, you definitely need the magnet, and maybe the impeller, as the rubber tips may be worn and causing it to wobble. Yes, that would be the correct exhaust tube. BREX

Do I need to replace the impeller or magnet?

My filter is not working properly. The impeller is noisy and does not spin all the time. It sometimes looks like it just stops and rattles around. Magnet shows some pretty good scoring, almost looks like it is cracked.

If the impeller looks okay, no scoring on it, or the shaft that goes through the magnet, then probably just the magnet is necessary. BREX

What causes groves in the magnet? How will this affect the magnum and impeller, will it not work as well?

This occurs because carbon, sand, gravel, something of this sort gets trapped in the bottom of the filter box, along side of the impeller. It will definitely make the filter noisy, but flow should be okay, depending on how severe the grooves are.... B-Rex
