For a tall tank with two extensions and two mid-level strainers can I leave both strainers wide open? Any downside?

Asked by: Yosemite Sam
Sure, don't see any reason why not! BREX

I want to add a circular sponge pre-filter to the intake instead of the plastic slotted intake strainer. I have both the Penguin 200 Bio Wheel and the Penguin 350. What diameter round sponge do I to buy to fit both these intake tubes?

Asked by: Tythomp80
The intake tube is square and .75" wide as well as 1.5" long. We believe it would be difficult to fit it into a round hole, but one of approximately 2" in diameter may work. BREX

I need to extend the 150B intake tube to the bottom of my 55 gallon tank. What do I need to do this? Please Help

Asked by: Biocarekid
You would need to buy another mid-level strainer and an extension tube. This would make it too long, so you would then need to trim the extension tube down some, most likely. This filter is too small for a 55 gallon tank. A better choice is the Penguin 350. BREX

I have a Penguin 200B filter on my 45g tank and want to extend the intake closer to the bottom. What else do i need to purchase along with the extension tube for this to work?  Thanks

Asked by: jsun74
You would need the mid-level strainer in order to connect it to the intake tube or other extension. http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-parts/Filtration-Products-and-Skimmers/Penguin-Parts/Intake-Tubes-and-Strainers/Mid-Level-Strainer-Penguin-100B-150B-200B.aspx BREX

extension tubes

I need a shorter extension tube for my 150B power filter is the Model 100 tube shorter than the 150 & 200? If you have a shorter one I would like to purchase it. Thank you.
Asked by: Gelwix
It is shorter, but will not fit your filter. If you need to shorten your extension, simply use a sharp kitchen knife to do so. We make the extensions long to allow for shortening them as needed. BREX

Is this more of a replacement part?

I am wondering if this can be used in conjunction with another extension tube to increase the depth in which the tube reaches? Or is this only a replacement for an extension tube that has been damaged or lost?
Asked by: CharleAnn
it is both, with a midlevel strainer you can use to extend the reach of the intake
