LED Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Kits is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from 38g bowed front Aquarium I bought this tank a little over a week ago. I love it! BUT when I took the hood out of the box that it came in it was cracked! I have tried to contact marineland with there email support. It said they would get back in 24 hrs time. Never heard a word from them. Great tank, but not great for customer service.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tank itself is great... the rest meh I've had the 38 gallon bowfront kit for a year. The filter that comes with the kit is undersized for that size tank. I've ended up supplementing with two more sponge filters and recently switched to a different, more powerful filter altogether. From the start, the heater never worked properly. Thankfully my fish are rather warm-water tolerant, but I could never get the tank below 80. (Compared to every other tank in the room that stays at 78.) And the lid. This canopy is a nightmare. Putting it together was a nightmare. The glass wasn't cut correctly. It's cracked. Nothing about the lid has made me happy. For the good: The LED strip is great for low-light plants. I have anubias and swords growing no problem. It's also a REALLY gorgeous tank. And it's at a good price point for size tank it is. Just don't expect much from the peripherals.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some disappointing features We bought this kit almost a month ago. First the filter died ..... PetSmart replaced it. So far it has been functioning as it should. Then a few days later, we were out for the day and the heater malfunctioned, heating the water to 98 degrees. Needless to say we lost several fish. We replaced the heater with a higher quality heater at our expense. This was upsetting. The light and hood seem to be ok. Time will tell. The aquarium also seems to be ok. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Office aquascape I bought a 55gal kit from my local pet super store, instead of the individual pieces. I set up my tank (the first tank since my childhood). I ran the tank for nearly a month with no fish; just gravel, rocks, a few plastic plants, and go the water chemistry perfect. All the components such as the lights, heater, and hood all worked great. Once the fish were in, I saw the value of the bio-wheel type of filtration. I love it. I now have over the past nine months, 9 mature angel fish (3 pair are actually breeding regularly), neon tetras, Plecos, and razbora tetras. The Marineland kit made the set up so convenient. I plan on getting another larger tank where I will probably double up on the marineland filtration system, and heating. I love, and have no regrets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 55 gallon kit bad LED I purchased a 55 Gallon Bio Wheel LED Aquiarium Kit from PetSmart for my son. Very nice tank but after only a couple weeks one of the LED lights started to fail and within another week it would not work at all. The tank was relatively expensive and a did not expect to have a problem with it so quickly...very disappointed!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great tanks but cheap "kit" components Very nice tank, and you get a good value with the overall kits, but the "kit" components are very cheap. LED light strips on mine went bad less than a month after purchase. Had higher expectations for a $300 kit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 55 gallon kit I bought my 55 gallon a few years ago and had loved it, up until about a week ago. The switches on the LED light hood was going out.... but let me tell you... Marineland products has the best customer service!! I explained my light issue and so quickly... I received two replacements to my lights. They were so easy to work with and the product is so beautiful!

What is the LED light power in watt for "Marineland® 38 Gallon Aquarium Starter Kit"? People said for good plant growth, we need at least 1 watt per gallon. Thank you

Asked by: Msky02
First, LED does not equate to fluorescent lighting. The old way of determining how much light is needed for a planted tank was the number of watts for a fluorescent light. This really only gives you how much energy the light uses, and tells nothing about the spectrum. You need a 6500 Kelvin light, regardless of whether it is fluorescent or LED. This light is only 6000 Kelvin and is basically for a natural daylight appearance to the tank. Some low light plants such as anubias or java fern do fine with it, but it is not a "plant light" per se. BREX

I have a 20 Gallon kit, and my LED has died. Is there a replacement to get for it? Also, can you give me alternatives for the hood?

Asked by: mohmir
Yes, the LED Light is the proper replacement for it. Alternatives to the hood would be a glass canopy with a strip light. http://a.co/127xxaS http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-fish-tank-stands-canopies/Glass-Canopies.aspx BREX

Will the penguin 350b fit in the 29 gallon hood?

Asked by: Hobbs25
Yes, it will, if you cut out the extra area to the right of the original cutout. It may overpower that size tank, however. BREX

What is a good stand for the 38 bow tank

Asked by: Jdcreed
There is only one stand available for it at this time. It is a Petsmart only tank, and they carry a RTA stand that fits it and their 36 gallon bow tank. BREX

Can fish sleep in the blue light? Will algae grow in the blue light in this tank?

Asked by: Sworden
Yes to both questions. Be sure to run the white light some to provide natural daylight for the fish, and do not leave the blue on all the time, as it does grow algae. BREX
