38 Gallon Bowfront Hidden Led Specs
I purchased the 38 gallon Bowfront that came with the hidden LED Lighting strips. I was curious what the specs are on the lighting. It appears to be 2 - 8" sections of LED Light. Does anyone know how many watts these are? Wanting to determine how much if any light I need to supplement with for a medium light planted tank.
With LED lights, we don't recommend them per wattage for these types of applications. Wattage is a rating of energy, and will not give you the amount of light needed for plants or corals. It was by luck that 2.5 watts to 4 watts per gallon worked out to be the right amount of light for live plants, many years ago. What you need is Kelvin rating, specifically, 6500 Kelvin, for live plants. These lights are not more than 5000-5500 Kelvin and will not support live plants. However, we do make/sell a HIdden LED separately that IS 6500 Kelvin, and it WILL definitely support live plants. I would recommend substituting this for the standard daylight LEDS that come with this kit.

LED light upgrade
I have the Marineland 10 gallon aquarium kit with the bio wheel filter. Is it possible to upgrade the LED light to a brighter unit as the light does not seem very bright?
The Marineland 10 gallon LED kit only has one light bar that will fit into the hood assembly. However, depending of the type of aquarium you have set up, you might be interested in using a glass canopy and LED strip light.

Do I submerge the water heater completely?
Hello my family just purchased the 29 gallon Aquarium and we were not sure if you completely submerge the water heater or not? I don't want anyone to get electrocuted. Thanks a bunch!
Yes, you definitely want to submerge it completely and it should always be submerged. Unplug it prior to water changes.

The filter keeps shutting off
I just purchased the 29-gallon kit. I installed the filter system and it was working fine for couple hours then it stopped. I felt the back of the unit and it was very warm so I unplugged for about 20 min the plugged back in and it was operating fine again.. I checked on the tank this morning and the same problem, the back is warm and the filter is shut off. Do I have a bad filter or is this normal?
Thank you for your question. Typically, this would indicate that there is something that is stuck in the impeller assembly and not allowing it to rotate exceptionally well. Please remove the impeller assembly, and clean down inside of the housing where the impeller is seated. Also, rinse the impeller off to make sure there is nothing stuck around the magnet as well.

Is my Aquarium of tempered glass?
Buy a 55-gallon aquarium kit and I need to make a hole in one of its walls by which I want to know if my Aquarium have all tempered glass, and not be so know which is what can I do?
The entire tank is tempered and cannot be drilled. Drilling voids the warranty on our tanks, anyway.

what lights do i need for my corals and anemones? i just got the kit for 55 but not sure if those lights are suitable?
I just bought the led aquarium kit 55 and am turning it into a salt water tank. I just need to know if these lights are suitable for corals and plants or if i need to purchase different ones and if that is the case what kind do i need and where can i get them ?
The Marineland 55 LED Kit is not suited for coral growth at all. If you are interested in maintaining coral, we would recommend the Reef Capable LED light fixture with a glass canopy over the aquarium. You can find these available at local pet stores and online, depending on location.

What are total watts and Kelvin temp of LED hood of 37 gal aquarium?
Total watts would be 42, kelvin rating is 5500. It is not suitable for live plants or corals, wattage merely tells you how much energy it will use.

My heater light turns off and on? Is this a problem or is this automatic?
Our Marineland heaters should cycle on for a few minutes (the red light will be on on during a heating cycle) and then the light will go off and the heater will rest. This is its intended design to slowly increase the temperature so that any fish which may be in the tank do not become stressed. The heater will continue on this stairstep-based heating until it reaches its set temperature. Once the heater reaches its set temp, it will not kick back on for another heating cycle unless the temperature in the tank drops below the desired, set temp.

Bio Wheel does not turn on filter
I have the 10 Gallon setup and the bio wheel does not turn. The water does not seem to reach high enough to hit the bio wheel. Can you tell me how to fix this?
Make sure the water level in the tank is to the underside of the top frame.
If you have had the filter for a while, unplug it, remove it from the tank, take it apart, and clean it. Especially pay close attention to the impeller and the filter box. Soak the impeller for 15 minutes in distilled vinegar, and use a q tip inside the well where the impeller resides.
Last, but not least make sure the purple bearings are in place for the biowheel to spin on.

I have resently brought this starter kit and I am experiencing bowing on the front and back glass panel. The tank size is 29 gallons and the bowing is roughly 1/4 inch front and back. I was just curious if this is normal for these tanks or if it is something I should worry about.
Yes, bowing of the 29 gallon tank is normal for up to 1/4".

How do u set the temp on the heater there are no number?
There is a + and a - sign on the side with a mark approximately in the middle. The mark represents 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Set it there, wait 24 hours and then begin to adjust as needed, if necessary, one small turn at a time. Wait at least an hour or two in between each adjustment.

I need an led hood for the Tetra 40gallon model 40b tank?
tank is 36w x 18d x 16h
Unfortunately based on the unique dimensions, we do not offer a true LED hood for this tank. We do manufacture a glass canopy and from there an LED light of your choosing may be placed over the canopy.

Hello, I need to know where I can purchase a replacement LED light for this tank. MIne stopped working shortly after I purchased it. My local pet stores do not carry the lights.
If you have a tank with the LED light bar, the light can be purchased through most any fish store, Petco, or Petsmart. It is also available at www.thatpetplace.com, www.petmountain.com, and www.petsolutions.com.

Listing of Available Aquarium
I would like to know the various "sizes" (gallon and dimensions) of the glass aquariums that you manufacture.
I am developing an article about all the equipment that is available for the tropical fish hobbyist, form Marineland, Aqueon and others that I have written to for such information. I am an "Aquarian" with about 60 years of enjoying the hobby.
Thank you for your support.
A spread sheet of the information would be appreciated.
This will be emailed directly to you.

Question regarding heater
We just bought the 10gallon LED Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Kit. I noticed that the water heater doesn't seem to have a thermostat and when on it seems that the temperature keeps going up. I don't want to leave it on all night as I am concerned that the water will get too warm. Is the water heater self-regulating? Will it turn itself off at a certain temperature?
Yes, it should be self-regulating and should turn off at where it is set. All of our heaters have some type of setting. The ones that come in starter kits have a + or - sign. Make sure it is not set too close to the + sign. Try adjusting it by turning the knob slightly towards the - sign and giving it an hour or so to alter the water temp. Make sure to check your thermometer frequently. If it is not working correctly, please call us with your information.

How to adjust the heater
I bought the 20G kit. The temperature is on the high side (27 degrees C, 80F) and I would like to lower it a bit. I already have fish in so I don't want to make mistakes. The heater is by Marineland but I can't find any model info on it nor on the leaflet that came with it.
There is a little red knob at the top. I am assuming I have to turn it to control the temperature, but which way?
Assuming your heater is at least similar to the one I received, there should be a little + and - near the top of the heater. They can be a bit hard to see once you've installed it already, but turning the red knob counter-clockwise should do the trick. Hope this helps.

LED and live plants?
So are the LED lights that come with the kit alright for live plants?
or am I going to have to spend a small fortune to get special lights?
No, they are not rated for live plants. Historically, starter kits have been equipped with starter equipment, as a cost savings to folks just wanting to get into the hobby.
You will need to either supplement the lighting with either the Hidden Led or the Accent Led in Red, or buy an Aquatic Plant LED if you wish to set up a planted tank properly.

How far into the water should the heater be placed. Can the complete heater be under water or is it only to the base of the top. I am concerned about water getting in an area that could cause a short.
Can go all the way in. There is a mark on it saying "minimum water level". But it can be fully in the water, cable end and all.

Where can I get a replacement LED light?
2 of my customers bought the LED kits and their LED lights stopped working. The only size I can order is too big. Is a replacement available?
Depends on which version they have bought. If they have the light bar, that is available for sale as 32996. If they have the light modules, the little boxes that snap in under the hood, that is currently only available through us.

I bought a 29 Gallon Kit with dual LED lights etc. Does the Submersible Heater regulates temperature ?
I bought a 29 Gallon kit which came along with a Tank heater. I was told to leave the heater on at all times, but it just heats up the water around 88 Deg F until I had to switch it off else my mollies would have cooked in the tank. Does the Heater indeed control the temperature or just keeps on heating the water. I used the lowest heat setting using the red knob on the heater.
The heater should regulate itself. If the tank is truly getting to 88 degrees, your heater is not functioning properly and should be replaced. Call us directly.

The LED light
The LED light won't "snap in" into the hood like the directions says it does, when I open the lid it just falls out.
Make sure you are inserting it correctly. I know it looks like it wouldn't matter which way it goes in, but the back side has two slots. They should line up on the little tabs in the insert on the hood, push back on the light after you have lined them up, bring it down, and press down in the center of the front, long side.

No, as you need a frame for them to attach to, unfortunately.

Salt water reef
Is there enough light to have some live rock, anemones , and soft corals in the 29 gal tank??
No, this is a simple, standard light for freshwater fish only. You would need to upgrade the top or you could add the Hidden LED or the Accent LED in blue.
