I need an led hood for the Tetra 40gallon model 40b tank?

tank is 36w x 18d x 16h
Asked by: Jers
Unfortunately based on the unique dimensions, we do not offer a true LED hood for this tank. We do manufacture a glass canopy and from there an LED light of your choosing may be placed over the canopy. ML2

Replacement Parts

Hello, I need to know where I can purchase a replacement LED light for this tank. MIne stopped working shortly after I purchased it. My local pet stores do not carry the lights.
Asked by: lorenn
If you have a tank with the LED light bar, the light can be purchased through most any fish store, Petco, or Petsmart. It is also available at www.thatpetplace.com, www.petmountain.com, and www.petsolutions.com. BREX

Listing of Available Aquarium

I would like to know the various "sizes" (gallon and dimensions) of the glass aquariums that you manufacture. I am developing an article about all the equipment that is available for the tropical fish hobbyist, form Marineland, Aqueon and others that I have written to for such information. I am an "Aquarian" with about 60 years of enjoying the hobby. Thank you for your support. A spread sheet of the information would be appreciated.

Question regarding heater

We just bought the 10gallon LED Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Kit. I noticed that the water heater doesn't seem to have a thermostat and when on it seems that the temperature keeps going up. I don't want to leave it on all night as I am concerned that the water will get too warm. Is the water heater self-regulating? Will it turn itself off at a certain temperature? Thanks, Iona
Asked by: Iona
Hello Iona, Yes, it should be self-regulating and should turn off at where it is set. All of our heaters have some type of setting. The ones that come in starter kits have a + or - sign. Make sure it is not set too close to the + sign. Try adjusting it by turning the knob slightly towards the - sign and giving it an hour or so to alter the water temp. Make sure to check your thermometer frequently. If it is not working correctly, please call us with your information. BREX

How to adjust the heater

I bought the 20G kit. The temperature is on the high side (27 degrees C, 80F) and I would like to lower it a bit. I already have fish in so I don't want to make mistakes. The heater is by Marineland but I can't find any model info on it nor on the leaflet that came with it. There is a little red knob at the top. I am assuming I have to turn it to control the temperature, but which way?
Asked by: Ornit
Assuming your heater is at least similar to the one I received, there should be a little + and - near the top of the heater. They can be a bit hard to see once you've installed it already, but turning the red knob counter-clockwise should do the trick. Hope this helps.

LED and live plants?

So are the LED lights that come with the kit alright for live plants? or am I going to have to spend a small fortune to get special lights?
Asked by: WisconsinGinger
No, they are not rated for live plants. Historically, starter kits have been equipped with starter equipment, as a cost savings to folks just wanting to get into the hobby. You will need to either supplement the lighting with either the Hidden Led or the Accent Led in Red, or buy an Aquatic Plant LED if you wish to set up a planted tank properly. BREX

Submersible Heater

How far into the water should the heater be placed. Can the complete heater be under water or is it only to the base of the top. I am concerned about water getting in an area that could cause a short.
Asked by: DMforfun
Can go all the way in. There is a mark on it saying "minimum water level". But it can be fully in the water, cable end and all.

Where can I get a replacement LED light?

2 of my customers bought the LED kits and their LED lights stopped working. The only size I can order is too big. Is a replacement available?
Asked by: PetKare
Depends on which version they have bought. If they have the light bar, that is available for sale as 32996. If they have the light modules, the little boxes that snap in under the hood, that is currently only available through us. BREX

I bought a 29 Gallon Kit with dual LED lights etc. Does the Submersible Heater regulates temperature ?

I bought a 29 Gallon kit which came along with a Tank heater. I was told to leave the heater on at all times, but it just heats up the water around 88 Deg F until I had to switch it off else my mollies would have cooked in the tank. Does the Heater indeed control the temperature or just keeps on heating the water. I used the lowest heat setting using the red knob on the heater.
Asked by: ADCalgary
The heater should regulate itself. If the tank is truly getting to 88 degrees, your heater is not functioning properly and should be replaced. Call us directly. BREX

The LED light

The LED light won't "snap in" into the hood like the directions says it does, when I open the lid it just falls out.
Asked by: Stormie2442
Make sure you are inserting it correctly. I know it looks like it wouldn't matter which way it goes in, but the back side has two slots. They should line up on the little tabs in the insert on the hood, push back on the light after you have lined them up, bring it down, and press down in the center of the front, long side. BREX

Is there any way to reduce the noise coming from the filter?

I just recently bought the ten gallon starter kit and followed the instructions to detail. However, I feel that I may have messed up somewhere with the filter. It is very loud and I can't seem to fix it, any suggestions? Thanks!
Asked by: demorsan1020
Make sure the water level is to the top of the tank, just below the top frame. Remove the impeller from the filter system to check for any damage to it. or for debris on the impeller or in the bottom of the filter box. BREX

LED Aquarium Kit 10 Gallon

I have had this aquarium for about five months and at first it was working excellently but over time it started slowing down and not working properly. When I got home today I noticed it was making this grinding sound, all of the water had also drained out. It does not look like there is a fracture in the glass or anything but the water appears to have exited out of the bottom of the glass part of the fish tank. Is there any advice that I can get? Does it come with a warranty?

I've had my Marineland 15 gal. tank for many years and am looking to replace it with one of exactly the same dimensions.

Marineland 75G Aquarium Majesty Ensemble LED Light

I'm in Edmonton, Canada and have been looking at the 75g Majesty Ensemble in the local Petsmart. I'm interested in knowing more about the LED lights. For example, how may watts, PAR/PUR, lumens, CRI does this light have? This is a 36" that adjusts to fit a 48" tank, correct? Also, are there adjustable plastic tabs on the back part of the glass canopy that can be adjusted so heaters and filters can be positioned where ever I want? Thank you in advance.
Asked by: beverly87
The info you seek would be on our site under the LED lighting. I'm not sure which LED light Petsmart is offering with that kit, but you would go to that page and click on product manuals and instructions. We have a chart there. There are two glass canopies for that tank. Each one has a 24" long plastic strip you can use, not use, or cut to allow filters, etc, to fit. BREX

why is the filter so loud?

have a 10 gallon kit and is loud?
Asked by: usswasp
You might have substrate inside the impeller you should remove the impeller and clean the inside. If you are using the extension tube with mid level strainer take those off and just put on the strainer.

Algae Bloom

Within the last year we purchased one of your kits (20gal) that has the LED lights. This replaced a tank we had with traditional flo lights and a Whisper filter. Everything is great with tank except we are having a horrible time with continuous algae bloom in the water. Nothing we have tried so far will help for long. We have tried lowering temp on tank, reducing amount of time with lights on, closing curtains in room, covering with a towel for up to a week. Those things help a tiny bit but we cannot maintain clear water in this tank. We always end up with cloudy green water. We feed very little and usually every other day, tank is not near a heat source or close to a window. We do regular water changes and test the water; which always comes up with good levels. We have not tried any chemicals in the water to rectify this. Is this something seen often with this type of filter (Bio Wheel)? Can you offer any suggestions on how to stop this from happening over and over? We have a 75Gal tank with a different type of filter on it also ;and have never had this problem. This is our first Bio Wheel filter and I feel it must have something to do with our issue. I look forward to hearing your response and suggestions.
Asked by: Fishymom
I have the same tank except the 55 gallon and 10 gallon I haven't had any problems with algae. I don't know how many or what kind of fish you have but that could cause waste and help algae. What I would do is if you have another place for your fish is drain your tank and if there is algae on the glass tanke a razer or sponge to get it off be careful not to scratch your glass. Then I would take hot water and wash any decor inside the tank and some of the gravel. You could also use hot water on the bio wheel but this will kill the good bacteria also. Cory cats would be a good fish and a snail if you don't mind them since they are bottom feeders. If that doesn't work or you'd rather not do all that you can try Marineland Algae Eliminator!

Why does the filter on the 10 gallon seem too large?

It stands up too high and it's loud because it can't seem to run. Also the covers on it won't stay on because the pipe that goes into the tank is just too long to fit correctly.
Asked by: splatterpunk
The extension tube and mid level intake strainer come with for the 20 gallon tanks which are deeper just add the regular stainer on the tube that goes with the impeller and it will fit. Make sure it's pushed down far enough into the filter so your lids will fit.
