Rated 2 out of 5 by from Frustrated! I love the tank! I am extremely excited about getting Chiclids. My husband purchased thank 8 months ago for my birthday. I am on vacation this week and finally have the time to get it set up. Plug everything in, and one of the LED lights do not work!!! Looked for a replacement, cannot find. Try and send an email to Marineland, and says there is an issue and I cannot send an email. UGH!! I go back to work in the morning and do not have time to be on the phone. Frustration has set in..... Really, cannot receive an email....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lighting problems I bought this 65 or 60 gallon tank I'm not 100% sure if it a 60 or 65 whatever one petsmart sells. Thats where I bought it about 4 months ago and the led lights that came with the tank have went out already and I'm kinda of upset about it. I paid good money for this tank. And I love Marineland products from water care products to heaters everything they make it normally great products I think I might have just got the lemon. I'm hoping marineland will fix this problem with me

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, but needs better instructions. I got the 10 gallon kit a month ago, and it is very nice. However, as a beginner it could have had better instructions. 1) Stating that the heater is submersible. 2) Explaining that you need to prime the filter by filling it with water in order for it to work. Perhaps these are obvious to most, but I wasn't sure until I found information online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service! I bought the 10 gallons kit with the bio wheel filter about 2 years ago. It works really well and it is really silent. A few weeks ago I noticed that the silicon had some bubbles in it. Fist time this happened to me and I got other models from them. I then filed a claim online and they compensated me immediately for the problem. Very great service, even two years after purchase. Great buy and five stars! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great 55gal! Bought the 55 gal to get into discus!Coupled this beast with an aquaclear 110 and the water is crystal clear (even though it's cycling).Only thing is that it did not include the food nor the chemicals it says on the box it would.Called the place where I've bought it, they said it was regulation because we're in canada and such food and chemicals couldn't be shipped.. I don't understand as all my cochlid food comes from the us.It's just sad that i am missing the promotionnal items there were supposed to be included with the tank!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 20 gal. Starter is great! I bought my 20 gallon tank kit in January 2016 and it is still going strong! I have added live plants and have a great setup. The kit had everything I needed to get started. The LED makes all difference with the two light settings. This has brought a lot of joy in my life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad leak Bought a 10g biowheel starter kit two and a half weeks ago and everything was great until I lost a priceless family heirloom organ because the tank decided to have a bottom seam let go, and I mean lost half the water in the time it took me to get my three fish out and the tank outside. I hesitantly accepted the same model in hopes that this one will not do the same, honestly uncomfortable leaving the house for too long in fear I'll come home to dead fish or a flooded living room, poor craftsmanship in terms of sealing the unit. Everything else was alright in terms of functionality, would have been thrilled with it had it not done this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch customer service!!! I bought the 29 gallon biowheel combo set and had some issues with one of the components. I voiced my displeasure on this website. The store i bought it from gave me no hassle in replacing the part and i was on my way. Not good enough for marineland. These people take pride in the quality of their products and i was contacted immediately by a rep. I felt she really felt sorry for my troubles and made up for my hassle in such a great way. Ive been a user and endorser of their products for years and will continue knowing im getting top notch equipment and have top notch service reps to take care of any issues that may arise. Buy their stuff people!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor lighting on a Dim 29 Gallon aquarium kit Purchased the 29 Gallon aquarium kit 2 weeks ago as I have a 10 Gallon Marineland tank that we quite like. Unfortunately, the 29 Gallon has been a disappointment. The LED lighting that comes with the kit is far too small. The box says 25% brighter so we can't even imagine what the previous version is like. The LED light sits in the middle of the hood and really only provides adequate lighting to the middle third of the tank. This aquarium should really be sold with a much wider single LED light or two separate LED lights on either side. If you're going to buy this kit, be prepared to purchase additional lighting and try to retrofit the hood (added cost and very inconvenient). It would have been much cheaper to have purchased a larger tank with double lights had I known.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ehhh..... I received the 38 Curve LED Kit as an early Christmas present and was happy with the size and shape. Bought gravel, plants and underwater filter and was getting everything started then saw the glass canopy was NOT included as the box says. Not looking forward to packing this up and returning to the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Customer Servie If you buy this tank please be sure to buy an aquarium stand to place it on. Since it was not a big tank I placed it on my granite countertop and after a year had a leak on the bottom of tank. I spoke with Barbara Link at Mainland who was helpful and really cared about the issue. She went above and beyond what I expected anyone to do. She investigated and wanted to figure out why their tank was leaking. She narrowed it down and figured out why. Thank you Barbara and Marineland. I will definetly buy an aquarium stand this time. By the way before it did leak the tank was great. The LED lights are just right and no problems with the filter it came with. I would buy again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible product, excellent service I gave this 2 stars for service. Product is about 1 to 2 stars. Our first tank broke (luckily no fish yet) but Marineland service took care of us. Then we found the worst part of the kit: the LED light bar. I have gone through 4 (maybe 5, I can't remember) of them and they all went bad within a few months. One only made it about 3 weeks. We have a surge protector and power is clean so the only thing that I can think of that would damage the LED are the minor splash-back droplets from the filter system. That being said, the plastic screen should prevent this from being a problem. Again, service was excellent and replaced the LED multiple times. I'm finished with this LED/hood combo and will look for another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Service Bought the 29 gallon kit as a replacement for my tired old aquarium. When I completed the setup, I realized that the cover over the light fixture was cracked in half. I didn't want to even try to go back to the retailer so I called the 800# for Marineland. They were so accommodating and sent a replacement that day. I received it within 5 days of my original purchase. I have had several of their filters over the years and prefer them to any other retailer. They sell a very good product at a reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Beginner Tank! I bought this tank setup a couple weeks ago. It comes with everything you need to begin your aquarist hobby, just like myself. However I'm doing a planted tank, and my only concern to grow and maintain healthy plants is the LED light. I'm not so sure if it's sufficient. Other than that. Its a great setup to get you started. Thanks Marineland

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tank, Great Price Excellent Customer Service I bought the 10 Gallon kit 6 weeks ago and have been enjoying this Tank with my Wife and son for five weeks now. Easy to set up, everything is there. I would have liked to see markings on the heater. but once set up the heater does a great job. My kit came without the trial packet of tetra safe start and food, and also had no filter pickup extension but one E-mail to Marineland and the stuff was on its way. The LED lmakes the fish look great and the moon light feature is really cool too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quick way to get back into the Hobby! Well we are now three weeks into the experience and the product has been working very well. It had been years ago that we had the aquarium set-up for the kids. We wanted the latest and greatest and a quick way to get into the hobby again. This kit was the answer. It has almost everything you will need in the box. The heater, filter system, tank and hood with LED lights all function very good. If you purchase the kit, before you walk out of the store don't forget the gravel, a quality fish food and a good thermometer. We found the maintenance items easily found at your local LFS's or box stores. I would recommend this system to anyone wishing to get back into the hobby. This kit will cost you under 70.00 on sale (10 gallon) but to complete the experience with live plants, air bubblers, fish and maintenance items plan on spending $ 200.00 easy. Our only draw back for us was our choice of size. I would highly recommend the 20 gallon as a min. A lot happens in an Aquarium and the smaller the body of water the more maintenance it may require. We have 5 live plants, 2 shrimp, 1 snail, two bubblers, one large rock and 6 fish. It is full and a beautiful set-up. The white or blue lighting is a bonus. The Bio-wheel filter system gets high reviews and has cleaned up the water after a 20% water change in about two hours. If you use luke warm water the heater will have the tank to temp and regulated within 24 hours. If I had to find a dis-advantage it maybe the heater, has a dial on top but no direction as to warmer or cooler. This is minor issue as it will take you 10 to 21 days before you can get fish. By then you will have it figured out. PS: clock-wise is hotter, while counter clock-wise is cooler on the heater, and remember you MUST "season" the water before adding fish. Have fun and enjoy your new community.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great small aquarium. Good shape for viewing fish. I started with a 3 gallon kit for my betta and 2 small Cory cats last year. I received the 5 gallon kit as a Christmas present. I like the shape, but it makes it a little more difficult to put a background on it. The filter that came with the kit was broken, but Petsmart replaced it with a comparable (better actually) filter. I'm sure I will enjoy the new tank as much as the old one and my fish seem to enjoy the extra room. The only thing that might make the kit better would be to include a heater.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this brand of aquarium We bought a 37 gallon brand new marineland fish tank. We set everything up and had the tank running for about 5 days. After a week of getting the tank we come home to a huge mess and damage to our house. The whole tank emptied out due to a bad seal. I'm not happy and will not be buying this brand again!!!! Our stand is destroyed too from all the water soaking on it and all our fish dead! Not to mention a broken hearted 6 year old. This was her Christmas gift. Extremely disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The overall setup is good for the price, but heater issues makes the kit worrisome The overall setup is good for the price. The tank, the hood, the lighting, and the filter seem to work well. The heater only worked for 15 days. On the 16th or 17th day, the heater appears to have stopped functioning properly, raising the water temperature to at least 90 degrees. Several of the fish died before the improper heater was detected and many of the surviving fish are not thriving or looking very good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor build quality and random equipment. I've gone through 4 of the 10 gallon tanks now. Each one has had some type of deficiency from cracks in the glass to missing or incorrect equipment included in the kit for example different heaters and filters with each supposedly identical kit. I've been able to switch out the defective units at the lfs under warranty but will save myself the hassle next time and try another brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful aquarium if all components worked Boxed kit in pet store had wrong lid. Took it back and they replaced it with one from another box. Heater didn't work- noticed after store closed so had to go elsewhere to buy another heater so fish would not be cold and perhaps die overnight. The only reason it gets a 4 star rating is that once it is set up it is beautiful...Also has good instructions for assembly. I had the identical 10 gallon tank and wanted a larger one. Had no problems at all with the first one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Busted after 3 weeks. I set this aquarium up and was very impressed at all that was included. However, last night (3 weeks after I had purchased this) I was awoken by the sound of not dripping, but GUSHING water. This tank had been on a very sturdy and flat stand. I checked other reviews and it appears I'm not the only one this has happened to. After an hour of saving fish, saving nearby furniture/items, and soaking up about 5 gallons of water from the carpet.... I went back to bed in a very bad mood.

I'm worried about the Hood on the 20 gal tank. Is it plastic or mental and will it hold if 7 pound cat jumps on it? She is full grown.

Asked by: MtnDeb
It is plastic. We have had other customers indicate their cats jump on it without issue. However, we do recommend training the cat to stay off of the tank as this is stressful for the fish, and can cause damage over time. BREX

Purchased the Marineland 10 gallon for a Betta fish. Firstly, we are new owners of fish/fish tank. I've noticed that there is a mirror effect inside the tank and I've read that Betta do not like mirrors and there wondering if this can be removed?

Asked by: Annodbebe
All aquariums tend to cause reflections along the sides of the tank, due to them being made out of glass. You can not completely remove reflections but can decrease them with dimmer lighting (which bettas prefer), and having a background on the tank, plus plenty of natural decor and plants. BREX

I bought the 17" strip light too and would like to plug them both into a timer so they turn off after 8 hours, for when I work late. Otherwise, I note excessive algae growth. I want to be sure there's no damage to the lights or fire risk.

As long as it is a quality timer and you use a power strip with surge protection that is approved for aquarium use, this should be perfectly fine to do. BREX

The light that comes with this kit will support low light plants such as anubias, java fern, and crypts. It will not support higher light plants such as water sprite, cabomba, hygrophila. You can supplement the light with the 17" Hidden LED if you decided to really get into some more difficult plants. BREX

How many Watts does the 10 gallon kit LED light put out? I'm having some issues with my plants, and am wondering if they need more light, but can't find anything on their power output. Thanks.

Asked by: Islandboy
Wattage only tells you how much energy the lights use. What you need for your plants it the Kelvin rating. This particular kit has a kelvin rating of only 5500. You need 6500. It is suitable for some low light plants like java fern, java moss, and anubias, but other plants need more. You can supplement it with the Hidden LED in the 17" length and achieve the proper Kelvin rating. BREX

Is there any lighting upgrade that will fit in the lighted area for this hood for this 37G tank?

Asked by: Ritch
We appreciate your interest in Marineland products! Unfortunately, no, there is not. The area is only 12" x 6", approximately. However, we do manufacture Hidden LED Strip Lights in 17" and 21" lengths that provide very bright lighting and 6000 Kelvin. These attach to the top frame of the tank in front, and cannot be seen. They have both blue and white LEDs, provide bright illumination and a night light feature. http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-lighting/LED-Aquarium-Lighting/freshwater-saltwater-reef-aquarium-led-lighting-system.aspx. My LED bar sometimes will not work properly and instead of providing a constant light it will flash like a strobe light, some days it is fine but others it does the strobing behaviour. What might be the cause of this problem and how can I fix it?

Asked by: Marineland20Gallon
We are sorry to hear this is happening. Make sure no water is getting into the underside of the light or the switch. Also, if you have it plugged directly into an outlet, purchase a power strip with surge protection to plug it into as this issue can be caused by voltage issues within your area. If you are unable to resolve this problem, please contact us regarding the warranty at 1-800-322-1266. BREX

I need a replacement front feeding guard for this tank because I have killifish that like to jump and I don't want them getting through.  How can I order that?

Asked by: Jackelstorm1983
We appreciate your concern regarding your killifish. Unfortunately, that piece is not something that is available separately. BREX

What retailers carry this? I cannot find anyone who sells it.

Thank you for your interest in this Marineland product! Petsmart is one retailer that carries them. To find others, scroll down any page on our site, and click on the Buying Options tab then enter your zip code into the dealer locator. Many independent, local fish and pet stores also carry them.
