The high-capacity, self-contained Standalone Systems are ideal for aquatic turtles, koi fish, plants or live rock. They can easily handle the unique waste-filtering requirements of all these organisms, ensuring optimum water quality at all times. This retail aquarium can function as a koi tank or turtle display - you choose!
Plumbed to accommodate a constant water change, the Standalone Systems provide you the option of connecting to an outside water source and drain. Each system’s high-output 800-gph recirculation pump directs prefiltered water through the UV disinfection unit on the three-stage BIO-Wheel filtration module (UV module and BIO-Wheel are not included in the Standalone System for plants).
Our BIO-Wheel filtration module provides a simple, yet superior solution to three-stage system filtration. Easy to install, easy to maintain, it significantly reduces labor cost while dramatically increasing filtration efficiency.
As water enters the module, waste is mechanically trapped by a poly-fiber prefilter pad. The carbon filter pack contains Black Diamond premium activated carbon for chemical filtration, efficiently adsorbing dissolved organic compounds.
Passing through the filter media trays, water flows onto the BIO-Wheel wet/dry biological filter mounted below. Because system flow causes it to rotate, the BIO-Wheel is constantly exposed to both water and air, thus developing a thriving culture of aerobic nitrifying bacteria.
Every BIO-Wheel is precultured and shipped via overnight delivery to arrive on the day animals are added. Your system can be fully stocked immediately upon installation.
